With Las Vegas in a category unto itself, Denver continues to show itself to be among the leading locales elsewhere for global betting brands to plant their American roots in the Western United States.
On Monday, Colorado's Office of Economic Development and International Trade announced that bet365 had selected the Mile High City as the location for its new U.S. headquarters.
According to a press release, bet365's Colorado campus will eventually be home to nearly 1,000 employees, with 300 expected to be hired within the first year. The UK-based company employs more than 7,000 people worldwide, with its U.S. presence including a New Jersey operation and 50 employees already in an existing Denver office.
“Unveiling our U.S. headquarters in beautiful downtown Denver represents a watershed moment in bet365’s North American journey," a bet365 spokesperson said in the release, which noted that the company will receive a $14 million tax credit over an eight-year period as a result of its agreement with the state’s economic development commission. "The Mile High City and its thriving business community is the ideal location to launch the next chapter in our company’s future, and we’re excited to create an industry-leading, innovative workplace in our new home."
"Bet365 will create nearly 1,000 new good-paying jobs and as many as 300 this year that will help Coloradans earn a good living and support their families," added Governor Jared Polis. "We are confident they will quickly find that our great state is the best place to live, work and do business."
The last gambling company to call Denver its U.S. home was Australia’s PointsBet, which opened its U.S. headquarters there just as mobile sports betting became legal in the Rocky Mountain State. Fanatics bought PointsBet's U.S. assets last year and maintains a considerable employee presence in downtown Denver.
