The Atlanta Hawks (4-7) visit the Boston Celtics (9-2) in the NBA this Tuesday, in a game set to tip off at 7:00 p.m. ET from the TD Garden in Boston. The game will be broadcast on NBA League Pass.

The Celtics are 15-point favorites over the Hawks on the spread (Celtics -15), with the over/under currently at 227.5 points. The Celtics are -1200 favorites on the moneyline to win outright, while Atlanta is +737 to pull off the upset.

Let's get to my Hawks vs. Celtics predictions and my NBA picks for Tuesday, November 12.

Hawks vs. Celtics Preview

The Atlanta Hawks take on the Boston Celtics in the opening game of the Emirates NBA Cup. As a reminder, this is the group stage where point differential matters. In a stacked Group C, this could end up being a relevant tiebreaker to determine who advances into the next round. While the Celtics should take care of business in this contest, navigating some of the nuances in the matchup is critical.

A few key injuries to note are that the Hawks will be missing Trae Young (Achilles), Bogdan Bogdanovic (hamstring) and De'Andre Hunter (personal). Meanwhile, the Celtics have listed Jayson Tatum (ankle) and Al Hordford (toe) as questionable, while Kristaps Porzingis remains out.

The Celtics are again a top team in the NBA and boast the league's second-best Adjusted Net Rating (+7.8) and the best Adjusted Offensive Rating (117.6), per Dunks and Threes. Atlanta, despite some roster changes, hasn't improved much from last season and has the 24th-ranked Adjusted Net Rating (-3.9).

The Hawks have also really struggled on the defensive side of the ball (116.2 Adjusted Defensive Rating, the third-worst mark in the NBA). That's exacerbated by the Hawks playing at the second-fastest pace in the league, so there are more opportunities for their opponents to capitalize on that weakness.

The key for Atlanta is that it is significantly better with Young on the floor as he has a +11.9 point differential when he's on the court, per Cleaning the Glass. It becomes extremely difficult for Atlanta to score without Young creation — both for himself and for his teammates. Without Young on the floor, Jalen Johnson sees a significant uptick in scoring and assists. However, this is not an ideal matchup for him against Boston's defense.

When these teams met on November 4th, Boston held the Hawks to just 93 points — and that was with Young playing 23 minutes. Atlanta shot just 19.4% from 3-point range, with Boston winning 123-93 — even after easing off the gas a bit in the second half.

Hawks vs. Celtics Prediction, Parlay Picks

A 15-point spread is a huge number. However, given the incentive to run up the score, this is a spot where Boston shouldn't have any issues scoring. Meanwhile, Atlanta will have difficulty generating consistent offense without Young.

I'm comfortable laying the points with Boston.

From a player prop perspective, Dyson Daniels Under 5.5 rebounds stands out. Even though Daniels is seeing extended run lately, Young's absence likely only hurts Daniels' opportunities for rebounds. When Daniels has played 30+ minutes this season, he's only recorded 6+ rebounds in 2-of-6 games. In the one game against Boston, he secured just 2-of-3 rebound chances in 23 minutes.

Best Bet: Celtics -15
Same Game Parlay: Celtics -15 and Daniels Under 5.5 Rebounds
