The New Orleans Pelicans battle the Golden State Warriors this Tuesday, October 29. It’s unfortunately an injury-riddled game despite the fact that the season started only a week ago.

Keep reading for my NBA same-game parlay for this Pelicans vs Warriors matchup.

Both teams are dealing with key injuries already. New Orleans lacks Dejounte Murray and Trey Murphy III, while Golden State misses Stephen Curry, De’Anthony Melton, and potentially Andrew Wiggins. Based on these absences, give me the Pels to cover.

Curry’s importance cannot be overstated. The Warriors are scoring 126.9 points per 100 possessions with him on the court this season and plummet to a 95.8 offensive rating once he rests, according to Cleaning the Glass.

It’s not just his efficient high-volume scoring that’s irreplaceable for Golden State. Curry’s gravity warps the defense and gives teammates far more space to operate. The court is about to drastically shrink for the Warriors – a catastrophic outcome. Jonathan Kuminga needs room to slash. Draymond Green, Trayce Jackson-Davis, Kevon Looney, and Kyle Anderson all don’t stretch the floor either.

I expect New Orleans to pack the paint and stick Herb Jones and Jose Alvarado onto Brandin Podziemski, who is perhaps their only reliable ball-handler left. It should be an ugly night for Golden State’s offense.

Their elite defense may win them this matchup, but the Pelicans still have the personnel to run a smooth offense.

Brandon Ingram looks rejuvenated after an offseason of trade speculation. His triples are falling, which opens up his game. CJ McCollum and Jordan Hawkins also seemingly cannot miss from deep, and their gravity complements Zion Williamson’s rim scoring. Golden State has the defenders to mark them well, yet it’s unlikely that they slow down the Pels enough here to cover.

Pick: New Orleans Pelicans -3 (-112)

He has notched 7, 7, and 8 rebounds this season.

Daniel Theis does not control the glass like a typical center. Meanwhile, Murray is a quality rebounder for a guard, so his absence reduces competition.

Minimal faith in Golden State’s offenses sans Curry equals more defensive rebounds for New Orleans and subsequently Ingram, who doesn’t have formidable rebounding teammates to vie against.

Pick: Brandon Ingram 6+ Rebounds (-130)
