76ers vs. Pacers Picks and Predictions
Prediction
Pacers -7.5 (Bet to -8.5)
Tyrese Haliburton has looked uncharacteristically bad, but this Pacers team is fantastic on their home floor and has plenty of secondary scoring weapons to lean on in the case of another stinker from Hali. But I wouldn't count on that from the All-Star and Olympian.
Meanwhile, Philly dropped a game against the Raptors without R.J. Barrett, Immanuel Quickley, Bruce Brown, Kelly Olynyk, and Ja'Kobe Walter. Toronto basically rolled out its B-team and still secured a win.
If the Maxey-led Sixers can't beat a Toronto squad whose No. 2 scoring option is second-year forward Gradey Dick, then it is improbable they will go on the road and put on a clinic against the Pacers, who had a 28-19-2 record against the spread at home last season as well as the fifth-highest scoring margin.
Further, Indiana's league-leading 28-14-2 ATS record after a loss during the 2023-24 campaign suggests a bounce-back could be in store.

Spread
Indiana was drubbed in its last game against New York, losing by 25 points. However, its uncharacteristic (and borderline unrepeatable) 3-for-30 mark from 3-point land played a considerable part in its shortcomings.
And based on the Pacers' personnel, it is challenging to imagine them having another rough shooting night, especially at home, where they ranked fifth in 3-point percentage (38.2%) last season.
This Philly team does not have nearly enough offense without Embiid and George to keep this game close, as Maxey has been inefficient as the primary scoring option, and the rest of the Sixers are at their best as rotational pieces, not players to lean on for tons of offensive output.
I'll lay the points with the Pacers.
My pick: Pacers -7.5 (Bet to -8.5)
Over/Under
Last season, the Pacers had the second-best over record (30-19) on their home floor, and this is a great spot to trust their high-octane offense against a Sixers squad without rim protection until Joel Embiid returns.
Indiana ranked first in points in the paint last season, and Philly just let a hobbled Toronto team score 56 points in the paint. Yikes. That's a recipe for a high total.
If the Pacers knock down even a modest number of 3-pointers, this should be a high-scoring game, with the Sixers matching their pace to try to stay within striking distance.
My pick: Over 228.5 (-110)
Moneyline
I'm staying off the moneyline in this game.
76ers vs. Pacers NBA Sunday Preview
Philadelphia 76ers: Struggling Without Embiid and George
Philadelphia has understandably floundered through its first two games without former MVP Joel Embiid and All-Star forward Paul George.
Without Embiid and George to attract some of the defense's attention, Tyrese Maxey has been consistently swarmed, and it has shown in his efficiency.
In fact, Maxey has only hit 29.6% of his field goal attempts and 19% of his 3s through the team's first two games.
His overall play and efficiency have also historically dropped off without Embiid on the floor. And now, that is only being amplified by an objectively more top-heavy Sixers roster than last season, which has missed two of its three key players.
Kelly Oubre Jr. has given Philly two strong outings, but the Sixers' scoring talent is abysmal outside of him and Maxey.
Indiana Pacers: Bounce Back Spot for Haliburton?
The Pacers split their first two road games of the season, winning at Detroit but losing by 25 points to the Knicks on the road.
Indiana had great success scoring in the paint but was out-rebounded and only hit three of its 30 3-point attempts, which is highly uncharacteristic for a team that shot 37.2% from deep last season.
However, the main story this season has been the play of Tyrese Haliburton, who just finished with zero points, five assists, and one rebound against the Knicks on 0-for-8 shooting from the floor.
So much of Indiana's offense is predicated on Haliburton's ability to knock down long range shots and distribute at a high level, but he has only hit one of his 16 3-point attempts and dished out 4.5 assists per game through his first two outings.
Still, if there were ever a spot for Hali and the Pacers to bounce back, this would be it.
My pick: Pacers -7.5 (-110)
