Atlanta Braves rookie Spencer Schwellenback is set to take the mound for his fifth career start on Monday.

The 24-year-old righty has big-league stuff, but we have yet to see it translate into a lot of strikeouts. However, there are signs that the strikeouts are coming, as he ranks in the 79th percentile in swinging strike rate and the 58th percentile in CSW.

He will battle a St. Louis Cardinals lineup that swings and misses plenty. The Cardinals have the ninth-highest strikeout rate against right-handed pitching. They only have three bats in their lineup with a strikeout rate under 20%.

The opportunity is there tonight for Schwellenbach, and I'm betting he capitalizes on it.

Lastly, we head to Anaheim.

The Athletics have been putting on a strikeout clinic. They have the second-highest strikeout rate in baseball against righties, but we are still fading their opposing starter on Monday.

Griffin Canning will get the ball for the Los Angeles Angels. He has regressed mightily this season, especially in the strikeout department.

Canning's strikeout rate has fallen by 10% year over year, and he's eclipsed five strikeouts only once in 15 starts this season.

Don't trust Canning on Monday, even in the best matchup one could ask for.
