MLB Player Props, Picks
It's Wednesday, and that means we have afternoon baseball! We're starting the day early with two starters who are being misperceived by the market, and we're going to take advantage of that.
With the first pitch nearing, let's dive into our top MLB player props for Wednesday, June 19 — featuring bets for Ranger Suarez and Joe Ryan.
Ranger Suarez has arguably been the best pitcher in the National League this year, entering Wednesday with a 1.77 ERA and 0.88 WHIP.
The veteran lefty has excelled in generating soft contact, but he's seen a monster increase in strikeouts — Suarez's strikeout rate is up over five percent from last year.
However, his strikeout total sits at just 4.5 this afternoon.
Much of that has to do with the San Diego Padres, who have the third-lowest team strikeout rate against southpaws. However, they've been whiffing lately, as the last six opposing starters have hit their strikeout overs against them.
Plus, Suarez has shown that he can cash Over 4.5 Ks, having done so in 11 of his 14 starts this season. That feeds into a 55% hit rate over the last three seasons.
We head to Minnesota, where Joe Ryan is set to take the ball against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Ryan has been a model of consistency since arriving in the majors, and he's on pace for a career-best year.
He enters Wednesday with a 3.24 ERA and 0.94 WHIP, alongside a strikeout rate in the 79th percentile.
Ryan also has an excellent matchup for strikeouts, as the Rays have the ninth-highest team strikeout rate against righties.
However, Ryan is getting too much love from oddsmakers in this matchup. Ryan has gone under this total in 10 of his 14 starts this year and has gone under this in 73% of his last 71 starts.
