The marquee SEC matchups continue into the night as the No. 13 Arkansas Razorbacks take on the No. 22 Auburn Tigers.
Eric Musselman has built a team that has already proven to be a problem on both ends of the floor. The 11th-tallest team in the nation will need all of its length to contend with Auburn's offensive firepower.
The Tigers lost a ton of talent to the NBA, but their incredible season helped boost their appeal in the portal. Big man Johni Broome has joined Wendell Green and K.D. Johnson to form a formidable trio.
Is the Tigers' experience enough to knock off the Razorbacks? Or is there a different angle that offers value?
Let's take a closer look to find out.
On paper, the Razorbacks aren't a team that will blow opponents away on the offensive end of the court.
Ricky Council IV has come over from Wichita State and made a name for himself. He is leading Arkansas in scoring, averaging 18.4 points per game.
Council leads a barrage of athletic guards who excel at penetrating and finishing around the rim. Over 60% of the Razorbacks' points have come from inside the arc, and 43% have been close twos.
Arkansas should have plenty of success if it can keep creating those high-percentage looks. The Tigers may be third in block percentage and 38th in two-point percentage allowed, but 56% of their points surrendered have been two-pointers.
This is a bounce-back spot for the Tigers as they return home after being upset by Georgia. Auburn's makeup and scheme should generate success against Arkansas.
Broome came over from Morehead State and established his presence in the paint. The 6'10" sophomore is leading the Tigers in points and rebounds, and also averaging over two blocks a game.
Meanwhile, his partner in crime, Jaylin Williams, has utilized his athleticism to make an impact from anywhere on the court. Williams can rise above the rim, sink shots from beyond the arc and be a vacuum on the boards.
These two will be the keys to Auburn's offense in this matchup. Yes, Arkansas presents a ton of size, but the Razorbacks have proven susceptible in the paint.
The Razorbacks are 105th in two-point percentage, and over 41% of their points surrendered have been from close twos.
Arkansas vs. Auburn Betting Pick
At first glance, this matchup looks to be a tough defensive matchup. The Tigers are 16th in defensive efficiency, and the Razorbacks are even better at fourth.
However, each of these clubs will have success against one other on the inside and should be able to score consistently. The amount of high-percentage looks is not the only thing that will help the total.
This is projected to be a very tight game. Both KenPom and Bart Torvik have this as a one-point game. That means this game will be tight down the stretch, and there should be plenty of free throws.
Free throws will be a big part of this matchup, as both of these teams rank worse than 220th in free throws per field goals allowed per game. Points that come with no time running off the clock will be our friend as we root for the over.
