Baylor will play host to Cincinnati on Saturday in a game both teams could use. The Bears finds themselves at the top of the Big 12 standings through two games, holding a 2-0 record with impressive wins over Oklahoma State on the road and BYU at home. The Bearcats are coming off a one-point loss at home to Texas, but outside of that, they have passed the eye test with flying colors.
Cincinnati started Big 12 play with a road win over BYU that should hold up as one of the best wins in the conference this season. The Bearcats handled business in the non-conference slate, entering this game with a 12-3 record on the season — but they are just 1-3 against top-100 teams.
Outside of one horrible week, Baylor has performed like a top-five team in college basketball. The Bears come in with a 13-2 record, undefeated in conference play and at home. The Baylor offense is rolling, as it always is, and it will pose a very difficult matchup for Cincinnati.
Cincinnati ranks 29th in defensive efficiency. The Bearcats are elite on the boards, ranking first in the country at preventing offensive rebounds and eight at rebounding their own misses.
On the offensive side, Cincinnati does a good job avoiding turnovers. The Bearcats cough it up on just 15% of their possessions, which ranks 75th in college basketball. They shoot the ball well from outside too, shooting 36% as a team from 3-point range.
But how will Cincinnati's defense hold up against one of the best offenses in the country? The Bearcats gave up 84 points in their loss to Xavier and 82 points in their loss to Dayton. They will need to do better than that to have a chance here.

Baylor is the top-ranked 3-point shooting team in the nation, with the Bears making 45% of their shots from outside. They have so many perimeter threats it is hard to keep up with.
Overall, Baylor ranks fourth in offensive efficiency. The Bears are effective inside as well, making 54% of shots inside the arc as a team, and at using their perimeter speed and quickness to take advantage of downhill drives.
Where they are vulnerable, however, is the defensive end. They rank just 71st nationally in defensive efficiency. They do a good job guarding the 3-point line, which allows them to win the outside shooting battle dramatically on most nights to cover up other defensive areas where they are just average.
All in all, you have to have loads of offensive firepower to keep up with Baylor at its home gym.
