The UCF Knights make the four-hour drive south to Coral Gables Friday night to battle the Miami Hurricanes, who are trying to prove that last season’s run to the Final Four was no fluke.

The Knights are officially a Big 12 member in basketball and picked up a win over another south Florida squad in their opener by beating FIU, but UCF steps up in class here.

UCF should be pretty motivated in this matchup, though, as it lost to the Canes by two at home last season. This will be the Knights’ toughest non-conference opponent and likely the most points they'll receive prior to Big 12 play.

Miami doesn’t have another big game until visiting Kentucky on November 28, as the Canes won’t have a look-ahead spot here.

But regardless, UCF is worth a strong look as an underdog in this spot at +8.5. Play it to +7.5.

Pick: UCF +8.5 (Play to +7.5)

The SEC meets the Big Ten as the No. 15 Texas A&M Aggies head to Columbus, Ohio, to take on the Ohio State Buckeyes. Both of these teams won their season openers, but this matchup will undoubtedly be a step up for both.

While this is an early-season test for both clubs, the team that may be more equipped to handle it is the Aggies. Texas A&M brings back a lot of experience, and its newcomers made an excellent first impression against Texas A&M-Commerce.

As for the Buckeyes, they were tested against Oakland in their opener, only winning by six.

While I understand that Ohio State will enjoy a significant home-court advantage here, that's nothing new to this Texas A&M team.

The Aggies' experience, leadership and efficiency on both ends of the court will lead them to victory.

Back A&M.

Pick: Texas A&M +1 or Better

The Wisconsin Badgers are always one of the slower teams in college basketball. Don't let that 105-76 route of Arkansas State on Monday fool you. Last season, the Badgers averaged 19.7 seconds per possession on offense and 18.3 seconds per possession on defense. These ranked 349th and 322nd, respectively, in college basketball.

This led to a 337th-ranked Adjusted Tempo (KenPom).

In addition, the Badgers bring back much of the same lineup that ranked 140th in Adjusted Offensive Efficiency and 19th in Adjusted Defensive Efficiency.

Yes, continuity helps in college basketball — particularly in the early going of the season — but they shot only 46.3% from inside the arc. They also ranked third in turnover rate on offense and 162nd on defense, so they'll keep the ball on their side of the floor.

Now, Tennessee plays at a slow pace, as well. It ranked 288th in Adjusted Tempo with a 246th-ranked offensive time of possession and 279th-ranked defensive time of possession.

Similar to Wisconsin, the Vols are better on the defensive end. The Volunteers ranked first in Adjusted Defensive Efficiency and 64th on offense.

They lost Olivier Nkamhoua, Julian Phillips, Tyreke Key and Uros Plavsic. They added Dalton Knecht (Northern Colorado), Jordan Gainey (USC Upstate) and a few strong freshmen. However, much of the starting lineup returns.

Knecht is a force, but Zakai Zeigler and Josiah-Jordan James aren't the most consistent offensively.

The under should be in play. This should be a rock fight. Take it to 130.

Pick: Under 134.5 (Play to 130)
