Below, we have college basketball odds and a pick for Baylor vs Oregon State on Wednesday, Nov. 22.
Baylor meets Oregon State at the Barclays Center for the NIT Season Tip-Off.
It'll be a clash of styles, as Oregon State loves to slow things down in the half-court and Baylor prefers to push the tempo at all times. That type of game can always be tricky, as it often comes down to execution.
After a disastrous 11-21 season, Oregon State is looking to bounce back and is off to a decent start, with a 3-1 record through four games. The Beavers may have the clutch gene too, as two of those wins came in overtime against Appalachian State and Troy (double OT).
On the other side, Scott Drew revamped his Baylor roster after losing his talented guard trio from last season. Adam Flagler, Keyonte George and LJ Cryer are gone, but RayJ Dennis, Ja'Kobe Walter and Jayden Nunn stepped in.
It's a new-look team, but the Bears possess many of the same traits that the great Baylor teams of the last decade had.
This will be a fun game to watch, and certainly one worth betting.
Once again, the Bears look elite on offense. Drew's teams have consistently finished the season ranked in the top 10 in Adjusted Offensive Efficiency, and this year's version is off to a fantastic start, currently ranked fifth, according to KenPom.
The Bears have all the characteristics of an offense that's built to last all season long — they get to the free-throw line frequently and they make 3-pointers (43.1% as a team). They're great on the offensive boards as well, rebounding 43% of their misses and generating tons of second-chance looks.
RayJ Dennis (Toledo) and Jayden Nunn (VCU) are the veterans, but it's Ja'Kobe Walter who looks like the next great Baylor guard.
In just four games as a true freshman, he has games tallying 28 and 23 points, respectively. He's a matchup nightmare, and he'll continue to play a featured role for the Bears' offensive attack.
When you study Oregon State's profile as a team, there isn't anything remarkable that stands out. The Beavers rank 200th in Adjusted Offensive Efficiency and 169th on the defensive side. They shoot a lot of 3s (61st in the country in 3-point attempt percentage), but they rarely make them (31% as a team).
The one quality opponent Oregon State has faced thus far is Nebraska, which steamrolled the Beavers by a final score of 84-63 last weekend. Sophomore stud Jordan Pope finished with 25 points in that game, and he looks like one of the best scorers in the country.
Unfortunately for Oregon State, that doesn't appear to mean much for its success as a team. Pope could very well go off in this game and Baylor would still have the best three guards on the floor.
Baylor vs. Oregon State
Betting Pick & Prediction
It's hard to trust Oregon State right now, given its mediocrity on both sides of the ball.
Baylor is exactly the type of explosive offense that can blow out an overmatched team like the Beavers, as evidenced by the Bears' 38-point win in their last game against UKMC.
I love the Bears to win big here.
Pick: Baylor -15
