The Duke Blue Devils and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets tip off ACC play on Saturday afternoon at McCamish Pavilion in Atlanta.
The Yellow Jackets head into this matchup off a solid home win over Mississippi State, while Duke is coming off its second loss of the season after falling at Arkansas in the ACC/SEC Challenge.
Can the Blue Devils avoid losing three games before mid-December for the first time since last century? Here's NCAAB odds and a pick for Duke vs Georgia Tech.
Jon Scheyer’s squad has lost two games already this season, each by five points. Duke fell at home to Arizona in early November and most recently dropped an 80-75 decision at Arkansas.
Duke knocked Arkansas out of the NCAA Tournament two seasons ago, so there was definitely motivation on the Razorbacks’ part, but the Blue Devils didn’t shoot the ball well in Wednesday’s defeat.
Duke was limited to 36% shooting from the floor, including a 6-of-22 effort from 3-point range. Kyle Filipowski led the Devils with 26 points, while Jeremy Roach put up 22, but they were the only Duke players to score in double figures.
Duke has covered the spread three times in seven games this season, while owning a 3-7 mark against the spread last year in ACC road contests.
One of those covers came in an 86-43 blowout of Georgia Tech in Atlanta last January with Duke as a 9.5-point favorite. The Blue Devils have won nine of the last 10 meetings with the Yellow Jackets since 2015, as the lone Tech victory came in the shortened 2020-21 season in overtime at home.

The Yellow Jackets picked up its biggest win of the Damon Stoudamire era by dominating Mississippi State in Tuesday’s 67-59 home triumph as 8.5-point underdogs.
Mississippi State never led as Georgia Tech jumped out to a 13-point halftime advantage and never looked back. The Jackets won in spite of shooting 38% on 2-point attempts, while Miles Kelly led Tech with 22 points and 9 rebounds.
Duke (ranked 14th by KenPom) will be the third straight top-40 opponent the Jackets will face. The win over Mississippi State was its best since upsetting Miami last season, but Tech also owns a 35-point blowout road loss to Cincinnati.
GT’s offensive numbers aren’t great. The Jackets rank 280th or worse in 2-point FG%, 3-point FG%, and free throw percentage. They have done a good job at limiting opponents from long distance by allowing foes to shoot 28.5% from 3-point range.
Kelly averages 19.4 points per game, but his shooting numbers across the board aren’t great. The junior guard is shooting 35.6% from the floor, 28.1% from 3-point land and 68% from the foul line, all career-lows.
The Jackets posted a 3-6 mark last season as a home underdog against ACC opponents, while Tech failed to cover in each of the six losses.
Duke vs. Georgia Tech
Betting Pick & Prediction
Duke's two worst defensive performances came in their losses to Arizona (78 points) and Arkansas (80 points). In their victories, the Blue Devils have allowed an average 61.4 points per game.
Georgia Tech might not play a better defensive game than it did against Mississippi State, but the bigger concern is its offensive numbers, which aren't strong.
