The depth of the ACC will be on full display when the Pittsburgh Panthers take on the Clemson Tigers. Both these teams come into this game red hot, each recording wins in four of their last five matchups.

However, the first meeting between these two teams was not a part of either squad's recent run. It occurred back in December, and the Tigers were victorious by nine points on the road. But much has changed since that first meeting. So, which side should you be on in this ACC clash?

Pitt Panthers

The Pitt Panthers are rolling lately, and a big reason why they have ascended in conference play is their success on the offensive end. Pitt is one of the bigger teams in the nation, but its size is not utilized down low; it creates mismatches on the perimeter.

The Panthers are going to unleash a barrage of shots from beyond the arc. It's their volume of 3-point shots that makes them dangerous, as they have converted their shots at a 34.9% clip, which is just 1.1% above the national average.

This will be the avenue that Pitt needs to take if it wants to pull off the upset considering Clemson has been vulnerable from beyond the arc. The Tigers are 179th in 3-point percentage allowed, and nearly 34% of the points they've surrendered have come from long-range.

Clemson Tigers

On the other end of the floor, the Clemson Tigers have been a juggernaut offensively. They rank 18th in adjusted offensive efficiency, proving they can be dangerous from all three levels.

However, Pitt is one of the rare teams that will be able to match up with Clemson size-wise. That may make the Tigers' one edge more difficult to capitalize on.

The Panthers are 207th in 2-point percentage allowed, which means we should see PJ Hall get a ton of usage. Clemson's big man has been tremendous this season, averaging 18.7 points per game and shooting over 68% in the paint.

If the Tigers can find a way to feed Hall, he could cause problems, as the Panthers have a tendency to get into foul trouble. This is the area that will decide this matchup.

Betting Pick & Prediction

We know that Clemson is a potent offensive club and that it has the potential to hang with the elites of the conference, but its reputation is making Pitt underrated here.

The Panthers have a clear avenue to succeed from beyond the arc on the offense end, and they have the height to challenge Hall on the defensive end. Another edge they have is on the glass, where Pitt has a sizable advantage in both offensive and defensive rebounding rates.

Pitt is set to make this game a grind, and if it can get hot from beyond the arc, we may have to put the Clemson Tigers on upset alert. Back the Panthers to at least cover the spread.

Pick: Pitt +7 (Play to +5.5)
