It's a constant grind in the Big East, and Saturday afternoon in Indianapolis is no different when Creighton heads to Indianapolis to take on Butler.
Both of these teams currently sit in the top half of the conference, and each has plans of playing in the NCAA Tournament.
Butler pulled off a big upset on the road in Omaha in the first meeting between these two — a high-scoring 99-98 affair with plenty of fireworks.
Here's Creighton vs. Butler odds and a pick.
Creighton is one of a handful of teams in the entire country that ranks inside the top 30 in both offensive and defensive adjusted efficiency, per KenPom.
That speaks to the balance of the Bluejays and the heavy number of two-way players on head coach Greg McDermott's roster.
Ryan Kalkbrenner remains an incredibly tough matchup on the inside, and his length gives opposing drivers trouble at the rim. Trey Alexander has made a big stride in his game and is playing the best basketball of his career on both ends of the floor.
The Jays do a great job of sharing the basketball and work to get a quality shot on every trip.
In the loss at home to Butler, it was the Creighton defense that proved to be costly. Butler knocked down 13 triples on only 22 attempts and shot over 55% from the field.
If the Bluejays want to exact some revenge on Saturday, they must do a better job getting out on the Bulldog shooters.
Butler has been one of the surprise stories of the season, and Thad Matta has done a tremendous job in his first year back at the helm.
The Bulldogs have road wins over Marquette and Creighton and have also knocked off Texas Tech, Villanova and Boise State at various points throughout the season.
A win Saturday would go a long way in locking up a ticket to the Big Dance.
To do that, Butler must do a better job rebounding the basketball against a Creighton team that's bigger than the Bulldogs. The Bluejays won the rebounding battle, 34-25, in the first matchup, something the 'Dogs overcame thanks to a 59% shooting performance from deep.
While Butler is a very good shooting team, it can't rely on that type of efficiency in this one. Instead, it must attack the glass as a team.
The Bulldogs have made the foul line their friend all season and should continue to make that a priority against a Creighton team that can sometimes be over-aggressive on defense.
Creighton vs Butler
Betting Pick & Prediction
This should be another tight battle between two good teams, so I see some value here on the home team catching some points.
Butler should once again be able to use dribble penetration to find some gaps in the Creighton defense, allowing its guards to pitch it out to open shooters.
The Bluejays will get their fair share of easy buckets on the inside given their size advantage, but I think the Bulldogs can score enough to hang inside the number.
Give me Butler and the points in what should be a fun one.
