Vladislav Goldin Rebounds

By Alex Hinton

When San Diego State is involved, you have to assume that it will be a low-scoring, low-possession game. Less points generally leads to more rebounds, which is why I'm looking at the FAU big man.

Goldin is averaging 8.2 rebounds over his last five games, with the last four coming in the NCAA tournament. In that span, he's had seven rebounds or more four times.

That includes 13 rebounds against Kansas State, and he also was hooked on six against Fairleigh Dickinson. Goldin played 18 minutes against FDU, and an increase in minutes would have correlated to an increase in his rebounding numbers.

In his last five games, he's averaging 22.8 minutes per game, and he recorded seven rebounds in each game that he played 20 minutes in during that span.

Fairleigh Dickinson is a smaller team, so it made sense for head coach Dusty May to play Goldin less to crossmatch. However, against SDSU and forward Nathan Mensah, I expect Goldin to at least cross the 20-minute threshold and perhaps play closer to 30 minutes like the past two games.

If that's the case, I would expect him to pull down at least seven rebounds.

Pick: Vladislav Goldin Over 6.5 Rebounds (-140) · Play to -150

Adama Sanogo Rebounds

By Doug Ziefel

The UConn Huskies have had an impressive run to the Final Four, and it should be no surprise that their star big man Adama Sanogo has led the way.

Sanogo has been one of the most imposing players all season long, as he can score on the low post and is a vacuum on the boards.

However, the glass is where we'll key in on as this number is inflated, even for Sanogo.

While Miami is not the tallest team, the Canes do make a conscious effort to grab rebounds on both ends of the floor. Norchad Omier is an elite rebounder at just 6-foot-7, and he'll be giving Sanogo fits in this matchup.

Aside from the matchup, Sanogo has gone over this total in just 13 of 37 games played this season. That's just 35% of the time, which gives us implied odds of -186 that he'll go under again.

Pick: Adama Sanogo Under 8.5 Rebounds (-125) · Play to -150

Adama Sanogo Assists

By Scott Schaeffer

Admittedly, I’m taking a bit of a shot in the dark here. From a glass half-full perspective, this is one of those wagers that won’t be over until the fat lady sings.

Adama Sanogo is not a wonderful post passer in the way Trevion Williams of Purdue was. He's liable to go consecutive games without an assist at all. So, this selection stems from the way I believe Miami will guard Sanogo and UConn as a whole.

Miami coach Jim Larranaga is smart enough to know that he'll need to approach the Huskies differently than the way Mark Few and Gonzaga did.

Luckily for the Canes, Larranaga is blessed with more than 48 hours to develop his plan.

Drew Timme was forced to spend a bulk of the crucial moments against UConn on the bench. Foul trouble forced Timme to watch his team’s fate be sealed without any control himself. Larranaga would be wise to avoid a similar outcome by protecting arguably his most important player in Norchad Omier.

Omier may be protected by Larranaga, choosing to double-team the post and provide help to Omier on the interior. If that approach transpires, Sanogo should have plenty of teammates to find.

Even if Sanogo isn’t necessarily a skilled passer, his six assists against Gonzaga show he’s willing to dish it.

The UConn vs. Miami game has a much higher implied total than the SDSU vs. FAU game. Still, if I were forced to give an opinion on the UConn vs. Miami total, I would have to lean over.

Miami still hasn't cracked the top 100 in terms of defensive efficiency despite four impressive wins in a row. The Canes have been successful because of their offense and in spite of their defense.

So long as Sanogo (and his teammates) continue to share the ball and play the unselfish brand of basketball they have lately, I love the over on this Sanogo assists prop at an attractive +145 price.

Pick: Adama Sanogo Over 1.5 Assists (+145)
