There's nothing quite like a basketball game where defense is optional. That's the case when the Creighton Bluejays and Iowa Hawkeyes meet in Omaha, Nebraska, on Tuesday.
Below are Iowa vs. Creighton odds and a pick, including an NCAAB betting guide for Tuesday, Nov. 14.
Iowa has consistently found diamonds in the rough — first, it was Luka Garza, then Keegan Murray, then Kris Murray.
Is the next star already in Iowa City?
Time will tell, but Payton Sandfort looks promising. The junior, known for his elite-shooting prowess is averaging 19.0 points and 10.5 rebounds per game and is shooting 41% from deep. Seeing Sanford thriving in an increased role is not a real surprise. By virtue of Murray leaving, it made Sandfort the top option.
Like Sandfort, an expanded role has led to a surge in production from Patrick McCaffrey. Sure, he's the coach's son, but that's far from why he's playing significant minutes. The impressive combination of athleticism and shooting in McCaffrey's game allows him to overwhelm opposing forwards. Standing at 6-foot-9, McCaffrey can space the floor while grabbing offensive rebounds
Iowa has finished top-15 in offensive efficiency in each season since 2018-19, per KenPom.
On the flip side, there are a lot of triple-digit numbers in the defensive efficiency department. Fran McCaffrey hasn't given a reason to believe that history will change. Trends are trends, and Iowa's lack of defensive success is trendy.

Creighton's season began in a boring fashion. It beat Florida A&M by 51 points and North Dakota State by only 39 points. Iowa presents the first real challenge for a team that many expect to contend for the Big East regular season crown.
Additionally, many reasons exist for how Creighton can meet and exceed expectations.
The Bluejays' elite offense wouldn't be the same without Trey Alexander. The Jays' go-to scorer is averaging a video-game-like stat line of 20.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game.
Alexander is different than many modern-day guards, though. He wants to get into the middle of the floor and find a clean mid-range jumper instead of hoisting from 3. That's the key ingredient to his pristine 71.4% shooting through two games.
Creighton's other three stars — Ryan Kalkbrenner, Steven Ashworth and Baylor Scheierman — also play integral roles in the offense. Ashworth and Scheierman are two of the best shooters in the sport, while Kalkbrenner's 7-foot frame makes him a force on both ends.
Alexander's driving ability also creates potential shooting lanes for Ashworth/Scheierman when the defense converges.
Even if Alexander has an off night, any of the other three can go off. How many teams have that level of scoring pop? Very few, if any.

Betting Pick & Prediction
All aboard the over train! These are two of the best offenses in college basketball, and one team deploys mediocrity on defense.
At 159.5, it implies both teams have to score 80 points, which already happened in their first two games. Plus, Creighton is capable of scoring 100 points on anybody.
Then you consider Iowa's non-existent defense, and Creighton could easily crack 100. I know books don't want to place basketball totals at something obscene — like 170 — but that feels more reasonable.
Pick: Over 159.5
