An intriguing Lone Star State matchup takes place at Moody Coliseum in Dallas on Tuesday as the SMU Mustangs host the Texas A&M Aggies.
The Aggies look to build off a big road win at Ohio State last Friday, while SMU puts its 3-0 record on the line after beating three subpar opponents.
Here's the Texas A&M vs. SMU odds and a prediction, including an NCAAB betting guide for Tuesday, Nov. 14.
Buzz Williams is looking to make a mark not only in the SEC, but also nationally in his fifth season as head coach of the Aggies. Texas A&M made its first NCAA tournament under Williams last season, but the Aggies were trampled by Penn State, 76-59, in the first round.
There's still a lot to be excited about in College Station (in spite of the football team looking for a new head coach), as the Aggies routed Texas A&M-Commerce in the opener followed by a 73-66 victory in Columbus over Ohio State.
The Aggies closed as a short 1.5-point road favorite last Friday and won in spite of hitting only 3-of-18 attempts from 3-point range.
Three Aggies were responsible for 62 of their 73 points, as Wade Taylor IV (21 points), Tyrece Radford (21 points) and Henry Coleman III (20 points) carried the load for A&M.
Although A&M struggled from long distance, it held the Buckeyes to 4-of-19 shooting from 3-point land. It marked the best non-conference road win under Williams since he took over in 2019.
Texas A&M and SMU are meeting for the second straight season, as the Aggies crushed the Mustangs at Reed Arena last season, 83-64, as 10.5-point home favorites. SMU never led as A&M limited the Mustangs to 11-of-31 shooting on 2-point attempts, while Coleman paced the Aggies with 23 points.

The Mustangs will be moving up in the world next season to the ACC, but SMU is currently the fifth-rated team in the AAC, according to KenPom.
Last season, the Mustangs had their first losing campaign in four seasons by finishing 10-22, beating only two teams ranked in the top 100. SMU has jumped out to a 3-0 record, but not exactly against the Dukes or Arizonas of the world.
In fact, SMU has defeated Southwest Assemblies of God, 82-63, followed by victories over Western Illinois (322nd in KenPom) and Lamar (325th in KenPom).
It’s not a murderer’s row of opponents, but after winning 10 games last season, wins are wins for Rob Lanier’s team.
The Mustangs have upcoming matchups with West Virginia, Dayton, Arizona State and Florida State prior to AAC play.
SMU didn’t shoot the ball well in its 78-67 home win over Lamar last Thursday. The Mustangs hit only 6-of-23 attempts from downtown and converted on 44% of their 2-point tries. What saved the Mustangs against Lamar was the 28 makes from the free-throw line, but SMU has missed 18 attempts from the charity stripe in the past two games.
SMU has four players averaging double-digits in points, but not one of them have scored 10 points or more in all three games.
Last season’s leading scorer — Zhuric Phelps (17.5 PPG) — is pacing the Mustangs this season with 13.7 points per game so far, although the guard was limited to eight points on 1-of-6 shooting in the Lamar win.

Since the start of last season, the Aggies own a solid 23-10 ATS record, including a 4-0 ATS mark as a road favorite.
SMU has lost five of its past six games as a home underdog and although the Mustangs are looking to avenge last year's loss in College Station, A&M is miles ahead of its intrastate rival here.
