Check out my same game parlay for the Hurricanes vs. Devils Game 4 on Tuesday night, which should be a more competitive game than the other recent ones.

The first three matchups of this second-round series have offered some high-event hockey at breakneck speed, which is no surprise considering how these teams match up. What few would have predicted was that the opening three games would all turn into blowouts.

I think the blowout trend ends tonight and that we see a more competitive back-and-forth game featuring a winner by only one or two goals.

Here is my SGP for Hurricanes vs. Devils for what should be a very exciting Game 4.

Same Game Parlay: Hurricanes vs. Devils

The Parlay (+900 at Bet365)

  • Martin Necas over 2.5 shots on goal, over 0.5 points
  • Timo Meier over 3.5 shots on goal
  • Dawson Mercer over 0.5 points

Martin Necas Over 2.5 Shots on Goal and Over 0.5 Points

Martin Necas has created lots of quality looks in the opening three matchups of this series. Early on in Game 3, he was especially dangerous, which was largely forgotten due to the 8-4 final score.

Necas hit the inner cross-bar at 14:59 of the first period, just 57 seconds prior to Jack Hughes' opening marker. He would hit the post again later on in the contest.

Seeing as posts do not count as a shot on goal, Necas finished with just two shots on goal and therefore disappointed "over 2.5" bettors for only the third time in nine playoff games. Even still, he has recorded nine shots on goal in this series, which has featured three blowouts.

Signs of an offensive breakthrough have been there for Necas in this series. I think he will find a way to get on the scoresheet in this matchup, and I think over 2.5 shots on goal is a safe bet to go with that.

Timo Meier Over 3.5 Shots on Goal

New Jersey's new-look top line of Jack Hughes, Dawson Mercer and Timo Meier was very effective in Game 3 as they combined for eight points across all strengths.

Meier finally broke through with his first goal of the postseason, and we should expect him to continue firing aggressively in Game 4.

His 13.93 shots on goal per 60, and 26.67 shot attempts per 60 both rank first on the Devils this postseason. That is 4.69 attempts per 60 more than Jack Hughes for the team lead.

The true volume of Meier's attempts on goal becomes an especially favorable note entering tonight's matchup for two reasons: The Devils have played in an abnormal amount of blowouts, and Meier has at times been skating in a third-line role.

Neither of those negative factors seems overly likely to occur again in tonight's matchup. Meier remained on Jack Hughes' wing at practice, which makes sense given that they were very productive in Game 3.

Dawson Mercer Over 0.5 Points

Mercer thrived in his newfound role on the Devils' top line recording three assists.

He is likely to remain on Hughes' wing in this matchup, and I believe he is more likely to record a single point than +100 suggests as a result.
