The Buffalo Sabres and Seattle Kraken will both be playing the second half of a back-to-back in this contest, and they had completely opposite results in their games last night.

The Sabres lost 4-0 on home ice against the Philadelphia Flyers, and the Kraken went into Montreal and defeated the Canadiens, 4-0.

It's been rare to see the Sabres get shutout this season considering they are the top offense in the NHL, and if there's one team that can keep up with them, it's the third-best offense in the NHL, which is the Seattle Kraken.

No Sophomore Slump for Seattle Kraken

The Kraken has had an outstanding sophomore season in the National Hockey League. They enter this game scoring 3.67 goals per game, which is the league's third best, and they have been playing incredibly lately, going 7-2-1 in their last 10 games while also riding a five-game winning streak.

Seattle has already defeated the Sabres once this year – winning 5-1 on Oct. 25 back in Seattle – now the Kraken will try to score just as many goals in their trip to Buffalo. During their five-game win streak, the Kraken have scored a combined 26 goals. They are on fire.

Seattle plays with an incredible pace, and a lot of that is led by their star rookie, Matty Beniers, who is on a four-game point streak, tallying four goals and three assists in that span.

Not only is the offense getting it done, but the Kraken goaltending has also been excellent. Martin Jones is third in the NHL in wins with 19, and he enters this game skating to a .894 save percentage and a 2.78 goals against average. His numbers aren't all that great, but he wins.

Jones isn't perfect, though he could steal this one on the road. But he might allow some goals in doing so. There is a small chance that the Kraken start Phillipp Grubauer, who has struggled this season with a 3-7-1 record along with a .881 save percentage and 3.53 goals against average.

Thompson Shining for Buffalo Sabres

The Buffalo Sabres have also been playing a strong stretch of hockey despite being shut out in their game last night. They've gone 8-2-0 in their last 10 games, and they will look to do whatever they can to get in the win column again tonight.

The Sabres have been absolutely electric offensively this season thanks to the play of Tage Thompson, Rasmus Dahlin, Alex Tuch, Jeff Skinner and Dylan Cozens. These five are tearing up the NHL, especially Thompson, who is becoming a possible Hart Trophy winner.

As a team, Buffalo is scoring 3.89 goals per game with the second-best power play unit in the NHL, converting at a 28.8% rate.

Craig Anderson started last night, so it is more than likely that Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen starts this one. Luukkonen enters this contest with a 9-3-1 record, but his numbers aren't all that impressive as he skates to a .894 save percentage and a 3.49 goals against average.

The Sabres win because of their offense, definitely not because of their defense or goaltending.

Kraken vs. Sabres Pick

The Kraken and Sabres are two of the best offensive teams in the league with goaltending that isn't exactly lights out.

I know both teams played last night, so there might be a little fatigue. But oftentimes fatigue leads to undisciplined penalties, which could result in a ton of power plays.

I think this game will be very wide-open with a ton of offensive scoring chances. It's going to be hard to keep the Sabres off the scoreboard in back-to-back games. I think they will especially explode offensively tonight. I love the over in this game.
