Check out Tony Sartori's NHL picks with anytime goalscorer best bets for Sunday, May 5.
NHL games today include two pivotal matchups as the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs begins to transition into the second. I have two NHL anytime goalscorer picks for today's doubleheader with Hurricanes vs. Rangers Game 1 (4 p.m. ET) and Golden Knights vs. Stars Game 7 (7:30 p.m. ET).
Betting on NHL anytime goalscorers is simple enough: If your player scores a goal at any point in the game, your bet is a winner. MLB has its dingers; the NHL has its anytime goalscorers. And with both types of player props, the bets usually come with plus-money odds attached to them, so they're a favorite among all types of sports bettors.

Hurricanes vs. Rangers
Game 1 of this second-round series between the Carolina Hurricanes and New York Rangers kicks off Sunday's NHL doubleheader. Carolina forward Seth Jarvis had his fingerprints all over the team's first-round series victory over the New York Islanders, scoring in three of the final four games.
Jarvis carried over the momentum of a great end to the regular season into the playoffs. He has now scored 16 goals over his past 21 games. Six of those goals came on the power play, which is important to note against a New York team that finished the regular season ranked in the bottom half of the league in penalty minutes taken per game.
Goaltender Igor Shesterkin is slated to guard the cage for the Rangers, and that is why we are catching such a long price of +290 on Jarvis. However, Jarvis' recent form makes me believe in him, and +290 is a particularly great line via BetMGM.
Pick: Seth Jarvis (+290 at BetMGM)
Golden Knights vs. Stars
Although we failed to cash on Wyatt Johnston in Game 6, we are going right back to the well in Game 7 as the Dallas Stars host the Golden Knights in the finale of this series. Johnston has undoubtedly been the best offensive player in this series.
He leads the Stars in goals, shots on goal and expected goals per 60 minutes. In fact, Johnston ranks 10th among all playoff skaters in that category.
This brings us to the Golden Knights, who are surrendering high-danger scoring chances at a high rate. Among the 16 playoff teams, Vegas ranks second-to-last in expected goals against per 60 minutes (xGA/60) at 5-on-5.
At +180 odds, it is worth taking a shot on Johnston to score for the fourth time in four games.
