Entering the playoffs, the Panthers were already a popular Stanley Cup pick. The Panthers had +700 odds to hoist the trophy. That was the second best among all playoff teams before the playoffs. The Panthers opened the season with +1800 odds to win the Stanley Cup at BetMGM.
The Oilers have also consistently been high on the odds board throughout the season. They opened the season with the second-highest odds to win the Stanley Cup at +800 at BetMGM. Before the start of the playoffs, they were still +800.
Despite the significant amount of money on the Panthers to win the series, that would still be a good outcome for BetMGM, as they have taken a significant amount of prop bets on Connor McDavid.
