Tennessee Tech vs Georgia Preview

Tennessee Tech Betting Preview: A Tough Task Awaits

Tennessee Tech fought admirably in its Week 1 opener against another FBS team, Middle Tennessee State.

Obviously, the Blue Raiders are nowhere near the level of Georgia, but it was impressive to see the Golden Eagles go toe-to-toe with MTSU on the road.

TTU actually took a one-point lead with just over a minute remaining, but the Blue Raiders marched down the field for a game-winning drive.

Tennessee Tech quarterback Jordyn Potts was fabulous in the opener, throwing for 256 yards and three touchdowns with zero turnovers.

Potts was the starter a year ago and has a ton of experience in the offense.

He will obviously be tested on Saturday, as will the entire Golden Eagles' offensive line.

That said, when you're going into a hostile environment as a massive underdog, to have any chance at success, you need an experienced quarterback who has been through the fire. The Golden Eagles have that in Potts.

On the other side of the ball, Tennessee Tech held MTSU to just 11 second-half points, which was an encouraging performance.

Carson Beck and the Bulldogs' offense will be a different story, and it's probably unrealistic to expect TTU to get many stops against Georgia's first-team offense.

Georgia Bulldogs Betting Preview: How Long Will Starters Play?

Talk about a team that doesn't need much of an introduction.

Georgia is riding a 40-game regular season winning streak and is the No. 1 team in America.

The Bulldogs have talent everywhere on both sides of the ball, including at Heisman candidate at quarterback.

Last week, in the opener against Clemson, the Bulldogs' defense was dominant.

Georgia held Clemson to just 188 yards of total offense, forced a turnover and sacked Cade Klubnik twice.

The question this week is purely motivation.

After a statement performance against the Tigers, will Georgia care that much against an opponent it knows has inferior talent?

With a road trip to Lexington to begin SEC play slated for next week, there's reason to believe a lot of the coaching staff is looking ahead to Kentucky.

I'd expect a pretty vanilla scheme from Kirby Smart on both sides of the ball as he knows Georgia's talent will win out. He'll also likely want to give the starters some rest and give some of the backups a chance at some game action.

With a stable of talent in the two- and three-deep, there won't be a major drop off, but it is reasonable to expect some rust as it's still very early in the season.

Tennessee Tech vs Georgia Pick & Prediction

I don't think Smart will have an agenda to run up the score.

Georgia has the talent to win this game by 60-70, but I don't think we'll see the starters play much, if at all, in the second half.

Additionally, Tennessee Tech is one of the scrappier teams in the FCS.

The Golden Eagles will embrace the underdog role and should enter Sanford Stadium flying around with nothing to lose.

I've got some faith in Potts and the TTU offense to string together a few drives and put a handful of points on the board.

That should be enough with UGA laying such a massive number.

Hold your nose and back the Golden Eagles to cover as a gigantic underdog.

Pick: Tennessee Tech +53.5
