In his rookie season, quarterback Daniel Jones showed signs of promise amidst a barren roster for the New York Giants. Jones was able to break 3,000 yards in 12 starts in 2019, throwing 24 touchdowns with 12 interceptions.
In 2020, the Giants bring in a whole new coaching staff and a fully healthy Saquon Barkley onto the field. Jason Garrett takes over as a veteran offensive coordinator to help guide Jones into his more mature QB years. I see this as a huge plus and predict Jones will take a big step forward in his second season with the Giants.
Our Action Network Projections peg Jones for 3,639 yards, 24 touchdowns and 13 interceptions in 2020.

I will be playing Jones over the total in terms of player props many times this season, as I’m very bullish on his arm strength, but also the situation he is going to be in. The Giants are still rebuilding and will be trotting out a weak defense. With that in mind, New York's path to victory will be by Jones and Barkley helping put up 30+ points and outscoring the other team.
Barkley was hobbled by a sprained ankle for a good chunk of 2019, but he still figures to be one of the best running backs in the NFL. Past that, the Giants bring back much of the same weapons for Jones. Second-year pro Darius Slayton out of Auburn showed some real promise for Big Blue in his rookie campaign, scoring eight touchdowns on 84 targets, and he and Jones seemed to be in sync early on in 2019. Expect to hear his name more often in 2020.
New York did attempt to improve its ailing offensive line, but there may not be serious progression just yet. The team used the No. 4 overall pick in the NFL Draft on Georgia offensive lineman Andrew Thomas and added a few more prospects in the later rounds. Jones may be under pressure often in 2020 just like in his rookie season, as the Giants are still rebuilding.
While New York may not start to win with Jones just yet, this is a great situation for him to put up some big numbers. He may also throw some interceptions and fumble the ball, but the Duke product is going to let it loose with Barkley flanking him in the backfield.
Say what you want about Garrett too, but he is a professional who has seen it all, not to mention coming over from an NFC East rival in the Dallas Cowboys. His familiarity with many of the team's opponents will really benefit an emerging talent in Jones.
Ride the over as the Giants figure to be in some shootouts in 2020. I’d play this up to 3,900.5.
