Diamondbacks vs Pirates MLB Betting Preview, Prediction
The Pirates will host the Diamondbacks on Wednesday afternoon in the last of a three-game homestand at PNC Park in Pittsburgh.
Right-hander Jared Jones will take the mound for the Bucs, while the visiting Snakes will send out lefty veteran Eduardo Rodriguez in what sets out to be a stellar pitching matchup given the form of both starters in 2026 thus far.
In 21 outings, the 33-year-old Rodriguez has been phenomenal, ranking inside the top 10 amongst all starting pitchers with a 2.64 ERA on the season.
Jones is 24 years old and was a highly touted pitching prospect heading into the Big Leagues, yet was unfortunately forced to undergo major internal brace surgery to repair a torn UCL, which resulted in him missing over a year of action.
Upon a quick return to the mound, he re-injured himself and missed some more time in 2026.
Since his return from the 15-day Injured-List (IL), Jones has been very impressive on the bump, quickly reminding everyone of his potential.
He enters Wednesday’s matchup with a 1.29 ERA in the month of July, having surrendered just three earned runs (ER) across 21 frames.
Given the exceptional form of both starters heading into this matchup, I heavily favor the no runs scored in the first inning (NRFI) option in this National League clash.
Pick: NRFI (-130, FanDuel)
