Story: Back the Snakes to Reign Supreme

The Diamondbacks are set to square off with the Rockies on Saturday afternoon in the second of a three-game series at Coors Field in Colorado.

I will provide a same-game parlay betting angle that you can take when wagering on Saturday’s National League showdown.

Moneyline Picks: Diamondbacks ML

For the first leg of our SGP ahead of Saturday afternoon’s contest, I will be looking to back the Diamondbacks on the moneyline to pick up a big victory on the road. Below, I will dive into the matchup.

Rockies right-hander Tomoyuki Sugano will take the mound on Saturday, looking to improve upon a rather sluggish start to his 2026 campaign, while Eduardo Rodriguez will be on the bump for the visiting Diamondbacks.

Upon being dealt to the Rockies this past offseason after spending his first season in the big leagues with the Orioles, the Japanese product has had quite a difficult time adjusting to the thin air density that comes with pitching at Coors Field in Colorado.

The Rockies veteran spent over a decade as one of the premier starting pitchers in Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) in Japan. Sugano won several Sawamura Awards during his time in the NPB, which are given annually to the league’s top pitcher.

Despite his vast success overseas, the Rockies righty has had issues adjusting to pitching in MLB.

After recording a 4.64 ERA in his rookie year with the Orioles, Sugano is also struggling in his second season in the majors. Like his debut season in 2025, Colorado’s right-hander is once again posting an ERA north of 4.00.

The Rockies righty has allowed 19 earned runs (ER) across 42 frames and has surrendered nine homers in the process. Sugano is set to face an extremely versatile Diamondbacks lineup on Saturday afternoon that boasts top-tier contact at the plate.

Arizona left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez is trending in the opposite direction from his Saturday counterpart and is having a tremendous first season with the Diamondbacks.

The former Red Sox pitcher is undefeated on the mound thus far, posting a 4-0 overall record while also recording an extremely impressive 2.25 ERA, which ranks inside the top 15 in baseball.

Rodriguez has been one of the most consistent starters in MLB across the first seven weeks of the season and has allowed just one run over his last 15.1 frames on the mound.

Despite the Rockies’ home-field advantage in Saturday’s National League clash, Arizona has a sizable starting pitching edge.

Also, I worry about Sugano’s effectiveness on the mound against the top of a Diamondbacks lineup that provides a great combination of high contact, elite speed on the basepaths and power at the plate.

I love the Snakes on Saturday, and the Diamondbacks moneyline should provide a great foundation as the first leg of our SGP.

Arizona Diamondbacks Player Prop: Corbin Carroll 2+ Total Bases

Despite Sugano’s struggles thus far, the Rockies right-hander boasts an extremely versatile arsenal that features a whopping seven different pitches, which is why his vast success in Japan is not very surprising.

In addition to his tremendous ability to mix it up, Sugano has surprisingly elite command given how poorly his ERA has suffered from having to pitch in unfavorable air-density conditions for the majority of his outings on the mound.

Colorado’s righty has a decent 1.19 WHIP and does not record many walks or punchouts either, which surely requires elite discipline at the plate in order to find success against the former NPB superstar.

That said, when deciding which Diamondbacks hitter to target in a player prop market for the second leg of our SGP ahead of Saturday’s contest, I think targeting a batter profile consisting of top-tier contact and patience at the plate is the best approach.

Arizona superstar outfielder Corbin Carroll fits the aforementioned skill set to a tee, which is why I will be targeting him to exceed his 1.5 total base mark as the back end of Saturday’s SGP.

By his standards, Carroll has been struggling at the plate as well, recording a .260 batting average and just five homers in 2026 thus far. Saturday’s matchup versus Sugano provides a perfect opportunity for the Diamondbacks speedster to have a breakout performance.

A deeper look into Sugano’s splits over his short tenure in MLB reveals that he has struggled far more against left-handed hitters like Carroll. In 2026, the Rockies right-hander has produced poor metrics across the board despite facing far more righties.

Carroll is one of the best young hitters in all of baseball and surely poses a massive threat to Sugano given his top-tier contact skills and speed.

Sugano has been very susceptible to hard contact this season, consistently giving up extra-base hits and homers all year long.

I expect a versatile left-handed hitter of Carroll’s caliber, who boasts a top-tier contact profile to go along with a unique combination of power and speed, to pose a massive threat to Colorado’s veteran.

In a game at Coors Field that should definitely deliver runs given the favorable hitting conditions in Colorado’s thin air, I expect Carroll to have a massive game on Saturday afternoon.

I feel great about backing Arizona’s speedster to exceed his 1.5 total base mark as the second leg of our SGP ahead of this National League clash.
