The Giants are coming off a six-game homestand, but it wasn't very forgiving as they hosted the Phillies and Yankees, who own the two best records in MLB. They dropped the last four, including one in heartbreaking fashion to the Yankees yesterday.

They'll look to snap their losing streak in Arizona tonight.

The Diamondbacks snapped a five-game losing streak of their own with a victory over the Mets yesterday. Back at home, they're favored over their NL West rivals with Ryan Nelson getting the ball.

Here's my Giants vs. Diamondbacks same game parlay for Monday's MLB game.

In three starts against the Giants last season, Ryne Nelson was 1-0 with a 3.44 ERA. In the final two starts, he worked into the seventh inning or later and allowed two runs or fewer in both outings.

On April 18, he was on his way to another quality start against the Giants as he had tossed two scoreless frames. However, he was struck by a comebacker that landed him on the IL.

Nelson didn't need more than the 15 days required for pitchers to return. However, since returning from the IL, Nelson has struggled mightily. He allowed three runs or more in four of his five May starts and posted a 6.93 ERA.

Two Giants hitters that I expect to reach base against him are Patrick Bailey and Brett Wisely.

Bailey comes into tonight's game hitting .298 with a hit in six of his last eight starts. The former first-round pick has a .845 OPS against right-handed pitching and is hitting .310 on the road. He's 2-for-6 (.333) with a double off Nelson and 5-for-11 (.455) in three games against Arizona in April.

He also will be rested as he had an off day on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Wisely hasn't faced Nelson yet, but he's been in the lineup against right-handed starters of late. Since May 23, Wisely is hitting .387. He has a hit in seven of nine games in that span, including each of the last two games.

Singles from Bailey and Wisely would get both in the hit column tonight.

As of this writing, the Giants haven't announced a starting pitcher yet and may go with an opener. However, one player who will be in a good spot regardless of who's on the mound is Lourdes Gurriel Jr.

In 15 career games against the Giants, Gurriel has a hit in 14 of them. In those games, he's hitting .328 with six doubles, a home run and seven runs batted in.

The seven extra-base hits have helped him record two total bases in eight of the 15 meetings, including two of three games this season.

Gurriel is also bringing a five-game hitting streak into tonight's game — punctuated by a home run yesterday.

Despite Nelson's struggles in May, the Diamondbacks still won two of his five starts. They also won all of his starts against the Giants last season.

I expect Nelson to get back on track against the Giants, however, I'm targeting the full game ML instead of the first five for a reason.

In yesterday's games, the Diamondbacks only needed to use two relievers in their victory over the Mets, while the Giants needed to use five in their loss to the Yankees.

Closer Camilo Doval allowed four runs in the ninth inning and threw 32 pitches, making it unlikely that manager Bob Melvin calls on him tonight.

The Giants' bullpen also has thrown the most innings in MLB over the last month and San Francisco is now playing its seventh consecutive game.

If Nelson struggles early and the Diamondbacks fall behind, they'll have the opportunity to come back against a depleted Giants bullpen.

Additionally, the Diamondbacks have scored 24 runs over their last three games. If they score six or more tonight, they'll have a great shot at winning their third consecutive game.
