Astros vs Angels Betting Preview, Prediction
Jose Soriano is coming off a pair of dazzling seven-inning starts. He’s allowed three earned runs or less in nine of his past 10 appearances.
He has been much better against righties, which is important when facing the Astros since they’ll likely only have one lefty in the lineup.
Soriano has held righties to a sub-.300 wOBA and just five extra-base hits in 164 plate appearances. His strikeout rate is 5.5% better against righties than lefties, while his walk rate is down 3% to that side of the plate.
Brandon Walter is more of an unknown, but maybe he shouldn’t be. The young lefty has fired back-to-back quality starts.
He’s allowed just three earned runs in three outings. Walter’s Stuff+ and Location+ are over 100, and his CSW% is near 30%.
The Angels have struggled against lefties, ranking 25th in OPS, 29th in wOBA, and 28th in wRC+. It’s a nice spot for Walter to run his quality start streak to three.
Pick: First Half Under 4.5 (-140, DraftKings)
