MLB Home Run Picks for August 8
Manny Machado (+430)
vs Red Sox (SP: RHP Walker Buehler)
Walker Buehler hasn't been the same pitcher since coming back from injury and has been absolutely crushed by righty power, giving up over two HR/9 since the beginning of last season. San Diego isn't a great hitter's park, but given the matchup, these odds are way too high. I have the true odds on Manny Machado homering today at around +300, making this a great EV bet.
Hunter Goodman (+420)
at Diamondbacks (SP: RHP Zac Gallen)
Hunter Goodman gets a matchup vs. Zac Gallen, who has historically been a good pitcher, but is having an off year. Gallen has been crushed by righty power this season, giving up a large 1.75 HR/9. Goodman is a good power bat and, given the matchup, I have the true odds around +350, making this a great EV bet.
Max Muncy (+333)
vs Blue Jays (SP: RHP Max Scherzer)
After a slow start to the season, Max Muncy has been a great power bat when healthy. He gets a matchup vs. Max Scherzer, who is well past his prime and has been crushed by lefty power this season, giving up a massive 2.42 HR/9, to go along with a 56% fly ball rate. I have the true odds today on Muncy homering today at around +250, making this a great EV bet.
