Gallen &
Wheeler
Matchup | Pirates vs. Diamondbacks · Phillies vs. Marlins |
First Pitch | 9:40 p.m. ET · 6:40 p.m. ET |
Today, we will create a custom No Runs First Inning (NRFI) bet by analyzing the performances of two pitchers. This personalized bet can be crafted through sportsbooks such as DraftKings and Barstool. This NRFI bet is different from a traditional NRFI, as it combines two separate half innings from the first innings of two different games. This approach allows you to have a better edge and tailor the bet to your preferences.
Our first selection for today's custom NRFI features Zac Gallen, the talented ace of the Arizona Diamondbacks and a front-runner for the National League Cy Young award. Gallen has been exceptional to the NRFI this season, boasting a 14-4 record. His home NRFI split is near perfect at 8-1, contributing to his impressive overall NRFI performance of 39-7 since 2022.
When facing Pittsburgh Pirates hitters in the past, Gallen has held his own, with notable performances against Brian Reynolds (1-7), Joe Connor (1-9) and Carlos Santana (2-6). To his advantage, the Pirates enter Arizona struggling in the first inning, owning a meager .125 batting average with only three hits in 27 plate appearances in the last seven days.
Several Pirates hitters are also mired in a slump, with Brian Reynolds batting just .143 with three hits in his last 21 at-bats, and leadoff hitter Andrew McCutchen going 0-for-17 so far in July.
Our second selection for today's custom NRFI is Zack Wheeler, the ace of the Philadelphia Phillies. Wheeler has been dominant to the NRFI this season, holding a stellar 14-3 record. His road NRFI split is impressive at 6-2, contributing to his overall NRFI performance of 37-6 since last season, and an outstanding 18-4 record on the road.
In past matchups, Wheeler has notable performances against Jean Segura (3-18), Yuli Gurriel (0-6), Jon Berti (3-16), Luis Arraez (1-3) and Jorge Soler (3-8). Despite the Marlins holding a 6-4 NRFI record in their last 10 games, they still maintain a strong NRFI home rate, standing at 80% with a 36-9 record when playing at home.
This custom NRFI selection is priced at -172 on DraftKings, but it should be noted that Barstool Sportsbook is providing a slight edge at -165.
As always, six outs to glory…
