We had a massive weekend on the diamond, but today is the only thing that matters as the calendar turns over.

I've found three guys who can help us start this week off right.

So, without further ado, let's dive into our MLB player props for Monday, May 20 — featuring bets for Tylor Megill, Jordan Westburg, and Reid Detmers.

MLB Player Props: Monday, May 20

  • Tylor Megill Over 3.5 Strikeouts (+106)
  • Jordan Westburg Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBI (+105)
  • Reid Detmers Over 4.5 Strikeouts (+115)

Tylor "Big Drip" Megill returns to the Mets rotation on Monday after hitting the IL following his 2024 debut.

However, Megill had a lengthy rehab assignment with plenty of success at the Triple-A level.

He's also proven he can surpass this posted strikeout total at the major league level. Megill has recorded at least four strikeouts in 60% of his past 40 starts.

That hit rate gives us implied odds of -150, a significant edge on the current price.

Back Megill despite the tough matchup.

Pick: Tylor Megill Over 3.5 Strikeouts (-105)

We have another opportunity to capitalize on a player in a tough matchup Monday in St. Louis, as Jordan Westburg will take the majority of his at-bats against Sonny Gray.

Gray has been tremendous for the Cardinals thus far, but Westburg has proven he can handle right-handed pitching. Westburg is tearing the cover off the ball this season, ranking among the top 11% of qualified hitters in expected wOBA, expected batting average, expected slugging, average exit velocity, and hard-hit rate.

Against righties, Westburg is hitting .315 with 15 extra-base hits in 118 plate appearances. This success has led Westburg to cash this prop in 57% of games this season.

That hit rate gives us implied odds of -133, so at plus money, Westburg is one of the best bats to back on Monday.

Pick: Jordan Westburg Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (+105)

Our last stop is in Houston, where we will back another starter despite a tough matchup.

Reid Detmers enters this start with a 5.19 ERA, but he's generated a ton of whiffs and chases. Those are two signs that Detmers' stuff is much better than his ERA indicates, which is why his expected ERA is significantly lower at 3.46.

He'll battle a dangerous Houston Astros lineup with the lowest-team strikeout rate in the majors.

However, the matchup has brought Detmers' strikeout rate too low to pass up. He has struck out at least five batters in six of his nine starts this season, which is part of his 63% hit rate over his last 62 starts.

This line should be flipped, as the matchup is weighing too heavily.

Pick: Reid Detmers Over 4.5 Strikeouts (+115)
