For my MLB player props on Tuesday, May 13, I'll be looking into plays for three star hitters in Rafael Devers, Aaron Judge and Mookie Betts.
Let's dive into my MLB player prop picks and parlay for Tuesday night.
MLB Prop Picks — Tuesday, May 13
- Rafael Devers Over 1.5 Total Bases (+140, BetMGM)
- Aaron Judge Over 1.5 Total Bases (+100, BetMGM)
- Mookie Betts Over 1.5 Total Bases (+130, DraftKings)
Red Sox vs Tigers Player Props: Devers Set to Punish Righties
Devers had one of the worst starts to a season you'll see, with 15 strikeouts in his first 19 at-bats.
However, he remains one of the game's most dangerous hitters.
As of April 24, Devers was still hitting .194, but since then, he has a hit in 14 of his last 16 games. In that span, he's hitting .433 with five doubles, five home runs, 17 runs batted in and a 1.301 OPS.
Devers will look to stay hot on Tuesday as the Red Sox look to even up the series.
Tigers manager A.J. Hinch will go with a bit of "chaos" on Tuesday with Tyler Holton opening up the game and Keider Montero following him as a bulk reliever. Devers is 1-for-5 against Holton and he's yet to face Montero, but I give him the edge in that matchup.
This season, left-handed hitters are hitting .324 with a double, triple, three home runs and a 1.101 OPS against Montero. This comes after he allowed nine home runs among 16 extra-base hits to left-handed bats in his debut campaign last season.
Devers has a career .911 OPS against right-handed pitchers, so a couple of at-bats against Montero will give him a strong opportunity to clear this line. He's done so in 10 of his last 16 games and at +140, I'll have to back him for two total bases on Tuesday.
Yankees vs Mariners Player Props: Judge's Power Surge Continues
In two of the last three years, Judge has hit 58 home runs — yet somehow he keeps getting better. Judge enters play tonight hitting .414 with 14 home runs, 40 RBI and a 1.283 OPS. He's hit safely in 18 of his last 20 games, clearing this line in 16 of them.
Judge does have a tough matchup on Tuesday against Bryan Woo. The 25-year former top prospect is 4-1 with a 3.25 ERA and 44 strikeouts in 44 1/3 innings.
However, Judge is still 2-for-5 with a double and has driven in four against them. Judge is hitting .402 with 10 doubles, two triples and eight home runs against right-handed pitchers this season.
Backing Judge's bases on Tuesday is worth it just for the value alone — getting an 80% hit rate over the last three weeks or so at +100 odds. When you add the dominant start Judge has gotten off to, you can see why I'll be backing him on Tuesday as the Yankees continue their road trip.
Athletics vs Dodgers Player Props: The Steady Force of Betts
Since April 29, Betts has started 11 games, and he's recorded two hits in eight of them. He's hitting .361 in that span, raising his average from .230 to .272 as he enters play on Tuesday.
If he has another two-hit performance, he'll also record two total bases.
He's slated to face Jeffrey Springs for the first time on Tuesday. Springs has allowed just two runs over his last two starts. However, that was preceded by five consecutive starts allowing three earned runs or more.
He has also allowed seven doubles, six home runs and .771 OPS to right-handed hitters, compared to just five total hits and a .550 OPS against left-handed hitters.
Betts is pretty consistent across the board, but he's a lifetime .295 hitter with .912 OPS against left-handed pitchers.
It's also his bobblehead night at Dodger Stadium. While there's obviously no guarantee, players do like to perform well on their promotional nights.
Wyatt Langford homered on his bobblehead night in Texas on Monday.
If Betts joins, he'll cash a +550 home run ticket on DraftKings, where there's also a no-sweat home run promotion.
