Well, yesterday was a wash as we went 1-1-1, but the good thing is that the slate is clean for Saturday's MLB action. There are plenty of great options on the board today, but below, you'll find three of the best.
Let's dive into our top three MLB player props for Saturday, April 27, featuring bets for Mookie Betts, Edward Cabrera, and George Kirby.
MLB Player Props For Saturday, April 27
- Mookie Betts Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBI (-160) at DraftKings
- Edward Cabrera Under 16.5 Outs Recorded (-125) at bet365
- George Kirby Over 16.5 Outs Recorded (-120) at bet365
Next, we head south, where Edward Cabrera will be taking the ball for the Miami Marlins. Cabrera has gotten an opportunity to rejoin the rotation, as the fish have been hit hard by the injury bug thus far.
Through two starts this season, this appears to be an improved version of Edward Cabrera. The stuff is still as nasty as always, but the key has been his command.
Cabrera had one of the highest walk rates in the majors last season at 15.2%. However, through his first two outings this year, his walk rate is just 8.5%.
While it's nice to potentially see a great talent hone his skills, I'm not convinced yet. Cabrera still walked three in his last outing, and that, along with the strikeouts he recorded, drove up his pitch count fast.
So, despite having a good matchup today, it's likely he will plague his own outing after all, that has been the trend, as Cabrera has gone under this total in 71% of his last 38 starts.
That hit rate equates to implied odds of -245 that he'll exit early today.
Lastly, we go across the country, where George Kirby is set to take the the rubber for the Seattle Mariners. Kirby has been a bit unlucky thus far, as his ground ball rate is down 7%.
However, his xERA indicates he's due for positive regression, as his expected ERA is nearly two full runs lower than his actual ERA. With more ball expected to find fielders instead of grass, Kirby should get back to himself and begin working deeper into games like we've seen the past two seasons.
Since 2022, Kirby has made 63 starts and has gone over this total in 63% of them. That hit rate gives us implied odds of -170 that he will exceed this number tonight.
Mookie Betts is currently the hottest hitter in baseball. Over his last seven games, he has hit .423 with four RBI, six walks, and four stolen bases. He has been a run-producing machine at the top of the order, and he is primed to stay hot this afternoon. Betts will get to face left-hander Yusei Kikuchi.
While Betts has been great against both lefties and righties, over the course of his career, we've seen him hit with more power against lefties. It would not surprise me if he goes deep to start the game, as we've seen him do it many times before.
It also helps that we are getting a great price here. Betts has gone over this total in 68% of games this season. That hit rate gives us implied odds of -213 that he will exceed it again today.
