Wednesday is quickly becoming my favorite day of the week, as there's nothing better than daytime baseball.
However, one way we can make Wednesday better is by cashing some player props, and I've found three guys to target.
So, without further ado, let's dive into our MLB player props for Wednesday, May 29.
While Paul Skenes may be getting all the hype in the Pirates rotation, Jared Jones has shown that he can be just as electric.
The rookie right-hander holds a 3.05 ERA and 0.97 WHIP through ten starts, and his excellent command has allowed him to maintain success deep into ballgames.
Jones has thrown at least six innings in seven of his ten starts this year, and he is poised to work deep into this start as well. The Detroit Tigers have plenty of young talent in their lineup, but with their talent being so green, their production has been inconsistent.
Detroit ranks 23rd in wRC+ and 12th in team strikeout rate. They are a great lineup to target this afternoon, as Jones should carve through them as he duels with Tarik Skubal.
The career of Frankie Montas has been snakebitten by injuries, and even though he is healthy this season, it's clear he's not the same pitcher he once was.
Montas enters his tenth start of the year with a 4.61 ERA and 1.46 WHIP.
He has been unable to miss bats this season as he ranks in the 12th percentile among qualified pitchers in whiff rate and the tenth in strikeout rate. Those rankings are not good enough to carry into a matchup against the St. Louis Cardinals, which ranks ninth in walk rate and 15th in strikeout rate among MLB lineups.
This veteran Cardinals lineup should make Montas work and put the ball in play often. Those results would be typical of what we've seen this season, as Montas has stayed under this strikeout prop total in seven of his nine starts.
Hitter props have been tricky this year, as prices on Hits+Runs+RBI have become too high.
However, there is value in each individual category, and Ozzie Albies is a guy to back.
With the loss of Ronald Acuna, Ozzie Alibies has moved up in the order, which means he'll be right in the middle of the Braves run production going forward.
Today, he has a great matchup against MacKenzie Gore.
Albies crushes left-handed pitching, hitting .341 with a .182 ISO against the side this season. He's already shown he can do damage against Gore, hitting 2-for-7 lifetime off Washington's southpaw with a homer and a .720 expected slugging.
With Albies likely to do damage, backing him to knock in a run is the best angle value-wise.
Albies has knocked in a run in 38% of games this season, which gives us implied odds of +163. 27 cents of value is excellent for a hitter in this type of matchup.
