This is the first Sunday of the NFL season, but there is plenty of MLB betting value on the diamond. After a 2-1 Saturday, we're in a position to finish the weekend strong. Let's dive into the top MLB player props for Sunday's slate.
MLB Player Props For Sunday, September 10th
The Cole train has been chugging along all season, and while his strikeouts are a tad down this season, there's no doubting his strikeout upside. The leading candidate for the AL Cy Young, Gerrit Cole, will face the Milwaukee Brewers, who enter with the 10th-highest Team Strikeout Rate in the majors.
There's significant line value on the current price as Cole has shown that he can surpass this total with regularity.
Over his last 65 starts, Cole has recorded at least seven strikeouts 60% of the time. That gives us implied odds of -149 that he'll go over this afternoon.
Our Action Labs projections agree on the over as well. They project Cole for 7.4 strikeouts today as this is one of the best edges on the slate.
Brayan Bello will take the mound against the Baltimore Orioles today, and he is not getting enough respect from the market.
Yes, the Orioles are a tough matchup because they don't strike out often and can do damage when putting the ball in play, but this total is too low. Bello has gone over this total in 56 percent of his last 25 starts.
That hit rate gives us implied odds of -127 that he will go over again this afternoon. Our Action Labs projections are pegging Bello for 5.3 strikeouts, making this the highest grade on the slate.
Cole Ragans has burst into the spotlight as his transition to the Royals' starting rotation has gone as well as possible. The 25-year-old lefty has been blowing away hitters with his fastball that reaches triple digits quite often.
Credit the Royals and their organization for stretching Ragans out after picking him up in June, after the Rangers utilized him as a reliever earlier this season. I mention his length as we target his pitching outs this afternoon.
Ragans is fully stretched out now and has shown that in his eight starts this season. He has gone over this total of 15.5 pitching outs in six of those eight starts.
While it is a very small sample size, we can clearly see that he's trending in the right direction and has been consistent this season. So even against a potent Toronto lineup, expect Ragans to work into the sixth inning.
Pick: Over 15.5 Pitching Outs +115 (bet365)
