On Tuesday, the Mets will play in a third different time zone on the road in three days as they begin a three-game series at Coors Field against the Rockies.

After dropping the final two games in Anaheim to the Angels over the weekend, New York took care of St. Louis in a make-up game on Monday with a 6-0 shutout over the sputtering Cardinals. The Rockies are back home following a 10-game road trip through California, which was capped off by consecutive losses to the Padres.

Luis Severino of the Mets and Kyle Freeland of the Rockies are tabbed as the probable starters for Tuesday night. You can find my New York Mets vs Colorado Rockies prediction plus the latest Mets vs Rockies odds below.

Mets Betting Preview: Promising Luis Severino Trends

The Mets sit two games behind the Diamondbacks for the final Wild Card spot in the National League heading into Tuesday's action.

New York avoided its second three-game losing streak since the beginning of June with Monday's shutout of St. Louis, rebounding from a pair of one-run defeats to the Angels.

The Mets have traveled from the Pacific to the Central Time Zone to the Mountain Time Zone in 48 hours to face the National League's worst team.

These teams met prior to the All-Star break at Citi Field. The Mets captured the first two matchups, but the Rockies avoided the sweep with an 8-5 victory in the series finale.

Luis Severino struggled in his final season with the Yankees in 2023 but returned to solid numbers in 2017, 2018, and 2022.

In his first season moving from the Bronx to Flushing, Severino has an ERA below 4.00 and seven wins, while the Mets have posted an 8-3 mark in his last 11 trips to the mound.

The Mets are riding a 4-1 run in Severino's past five road outings, including scoreless performances at Miami and Pittsburgh.

Severino has cashed the Under on his strikeout prop in eight of his last 11 starts but hit the over on his strikeout prop in two of his past three road appearances.

Rockies Betting Preview: Kyle Freeland Bounces Back

The Rockies are at the bottom of the National League West and have the worst record in the NL, at 41-72.

Last season, at this time, Colorado won 45 times through 113 games and finished with a 59-103 mark. Things are gearing towards their second straight 100-loss campaign (the Rockies never lost more than 100 games prior to 2023).

The 10-game swing through the Golden State was mostly rocky at 3-7, with the exception of a three-game winning streak between two victories over the Angels and an upset as a +160 underdog on Friday at San Diego.

The trip ended with a thud in Sunday's 10-2 defeat to the Padres as Colorado fell to 1-10-1 in their past 12 road series.

Heading back to Coors Field is good for Bud Black's team, which is 3-0-1 in its last four home series, including taking two of three from the Royals, Red Sox, and Giants.

Kyle Freeland has probably put together the best turnaround of any starting pitcher in baseball after getting torched for 17 runs in his first two outings. The Rockies' southpaw has allowed two earned runs or fewer in six of his past seven trips to the mound, as Colorado owns a solid 5-2 mark in this stretch.

The other big surprise from Freeland's comeback tour is the number of strikeouts he posts each start. Freeland has cashed the over on his strikeout prop in five consecutive outings, including 14 strikeouts against the Angels and Giants in his past two starts.

In New York's last nine games against left-handed starting pitchers, those hurlers have eclipsed their strikeout total six times.

The Rockies have not led through five innings in 10 straight games, posting an 0-7-3 mark in this stretch, which has extended to 2-13-5 since July 11.

New York Mets vs Colorado Rockies Predictions, Betting Analysis

The travel situation does not favor New York here, and putting up a good showing in St. Louis on Monday makes the Mets more attractive from a public betting standpoint.

The Rockies are not on the same wavelength as the Mets, but Colorado has held its own at home lately, and Freeland is pitching well.

Colorado has won three of its past four home series openers and is worth a strong look.

Pick: Rockies Moneyline +125 (Play to +120)

Moneyline

The Rockies play nine of their next 12 games in Denver. They also face Atlanta and San Diego, making them underdogs in probably all those contests. The scenario doesn't bode well for the Mets here, as the Cardinals missed out on several opportunities with runners on Monday and couldn't cash in before New York broke it open.

Run Line (Spread)

Looking at Colorado at +1.5 isn't a bad play at -120, as three of its last six home losses came by one run. The Mets' last two wins with Severino on the mound came by one run apiece, while New York sits at 1-5 in his past six starts on the run line.

Over/Under

All three meetings at Citi Field easily went over last month, while the last five matchups between these teams, dating back to last season, have all gone over the total.

Call it an anomaly, but the last time the Rockies played at home, on July 24, against the Red Sox, Colorado dropped 20 runs on Boston. So, we'll see if the Rox can get their bats going at home.
