The National League Central race has turned into a runaway through two months as the Milwaukee Brewers are the only team with a winning record in the division, while holding a 6 1/2 game edge.
The Cincinnati Reds are in a four-team log-jam for second place as they, along with the Cubs, Cardinals and Pirates, are separated by less than a game. All six division leaders own 40 wins or more as Milwaukee reached that plateau with Wednesday's victory over Toronto.

Cincinnati Reds
Cincinnati dropped to 20-30 on May 23 following an extra-innings home loss to the San Diego. The Reds turned things around by sweeping the Dodgers, spurring a 13-5 hot stretch, finished off by a two-game split with the Guardians.
Third baseman Jeimer Candelario drove in all four runs on two home runs in Wednesday's 4-2 victory over Cleveland as the Reds closed out their home stand at 4-2.
Cincinnati heads to Milwaukee playing well away from Great American Ballpark of late with wins in five of the last six road games.
The Reds began this season 1-7 in Hunter Greene's first eight starts but have improved recently with a 3-2 mark in his past five outings.
Cincinnati won a back-and-forth affair with Chicago in Greene's last trip to the mound, an 8-4 victory in spite of the right-hander allowing four earned runs in nearly seven innings of work.
Greene will rack up the strikeouts as he is tied for 9th in the National League with 84 Ks and ranks 6th in WAR at 2.3.
Greene tries to rebound from an awful showing against the Brewers in early April when he was racked for seven runs in six innings of a 7-2 defeat. The righty struck out nine batters in the loss, but Cincinnati fell to 0-5 in his five career starts against Milwaukee.
Milwaukee Brewers
Milwaukee is fresh off a pair of series victories over a pair of American League foes by winning four of six against Detroit and Toronto.
The Brewers' pitching staff has stepped up of late by allowing opponents to score three runs or less in eight of the past 11 games, while owning an 11-1 mark in the last 12 contests at American Family Field when giving up three runs or less.
Milwaukee sends out ace Freddy Peralta to the hill in tonight's opener, who silenced the Reds' bats in a pair of outings last season.
Peralta didn't face Cincinnati at Great American Ballpark in April when the Brewers took two of three from their division rivals. In two matchups back in 2023, Peralta tossed six scoreless innings each time and struck out 19 batters in a pair of 3-0 shutouts.
Milwaukee began the season winning each of Peralta's first six starts before leveling off with a 3-4 record since the beginning of May.
In three of those wins since May, Peralta gave up three earned runs apiece, but in two of the losses, he yielded one run apiece.

Since the beginning of 2023, the Brewers have captured 12 of 16 meetings with the Reds.
There's no question how much Peralta has shut down this Reds' lineup and if Greene can turn around his bad luck against Milwaukee, there is a shot at a pitcher's duel tonight.
Following the three high-scoring affairs in Cincinnati earlier this season, let's go the other way and take the under in Friday's series opener.
