Giants vs Tigers Preview, Prediction, Betting Insights
Logan Webb has been a consistent force for San Francisco since joining the league. Over the past five seasons, Webb is 54-37 with a 3.14 ERA and 1.15 WHIP.
He is looking to secure an All-Star nod for the second consecutive year in 2025. Through 11 starts this season, the right-hander is 5-4 with a 2.67 ERA and 1.20 WHIP.
His underlying metrics suggest this dominance is likely to continue. Webb ranks in the top quarter of the league in expected ERA (xERA), strikeout rate, walk rate and barrel rate.
He has also excelled against Detroit. Through two meetings, Webb owns a nearly spotless 0.77 ERA and 1.03 WHIP.
Looking at it from the other perspective, the current Tigers roster has a .103 batting average, .241 slugging percentage and .161 weighted on-base average (wOBA) through 30 combined plate appearances against Webb.
Meanwhile, Jack Flaherty’s analytics indicate he is performing better than his surface-level stats suggest. The former first-round draft pick has a higher xERA and expected fielding independent pitching (xFIP) than his traditional ERA and FIP.
That expected positive regression has already begun to show. Over his past two starts, Flaherty has a 3.65 ERA and 0.97 WHIP.
Following Flaherty is one of the stronger bullpens in baseball. Entering this matchup, Detroit’s relief staff ranks in the top half of the league in ERA, FIP and xFIP.
This pitching staff shouldn’t be challenged too much, as San Francisco ranks in the bottom half of the league in batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage and OPS.
Giants vs Tigers Prediction, Betting Analysis
While the Tigers’ bullpen is strong, the Giants’ is even better. This season, San Francisco’s relief corps ranks first in ERA, fifth in FIP and fifth in xFIP.
