The Tigers lost a three-game set to the Rays over the weekend, but Riley Greene had a big series in his home state.

Greene went 6-for-10 with two doubles, two home runs, and four RBIs. Greene has a hit in seven of his past nine games.

He is in a strong position to be an All-Star for the second consecutive season as he is slashing .291/.345/.530 with 20 doubles, 17 home runs, and 59 RBI this season.

In June, Greene is hitting .360 with eight doubles, four home runs, 19 RBI, and a 1.036 OPS. He has a hit in seven of his last nine games, and he will look to continue his hot hitting against Luis Severino.

Greene is 0-for-3 against Severino thus far, but he is hitting .321 with 30 extra-base hits, including 16 of his 17 home runs, against right-handed pitching.

Meanwhile, left-handed hitters are hitting .280 with 14 extra-base hits against Severino.

Additionally, Greene probably prefers that this game is in the evening, as he is hitting .338 in night games.

That will put him in a position to record two total bases once again. He has cleared this line in six of his past nine games while averaging 3.4 total bases per game in that span.

If he cannot get to Severino, he should have opportunities against a struggling A's bullpen.

Yankees vs Reds Player Props: Burns Debuts With K Upside

The Reds made Chase Burns the second overall pick in the 2024 MLB Entry Draft after he went 23-6 with a 3.21 ERA and 408 strikeouts in 252 innings across three collegiate seasons between Tennessee and Wake Forest.

Less than a year later, he is set to make his MLB debut.

Burns quickly advanced through the minors, boasting a 7-3 record with a 1.77 ERA and 89 strikeouts in 66 innings.

He will have a tough assignment in his debut against the New York Yankees.

The Yankees rank fourth among MLB lineups in runs scored, but they are also in the middle of another June slump. Last night, they dropped the series opener 6-1 while striking out 13 times. Reds starter Nick Lodolo had six in just 4 1/3 innings of work as he threw 94 pitches.

The Yankees rank ninth in strikeout rate this season. Now, they get an unfamiliar matchup against Burns, who is armed with an elite arsenal.

Burns' fastball, slider, curveball, and changeup all grade as plus pitches. His fastball reaches 101 mph and has a grade of 65 on the 20-80 scale, while his slider has a grade of 70.

In the minors, he has been elite at generating swings and misses, while also throwing strikes on 68% of his pitches and averaging just 1.8 walks per nine innings.

That may keep his pitch count at a reasonable number, and if he goes five innings, that will give him the opportunity for six strikeouts in his debut.

In 2023, Ronald Acuna Jr. won his first NL MVP and became the first player in MLB history to hit 40 home runs and steal 70 bases in the same season.

Last season, he got off to a slow start and then tore his ACL in his left knee.

However, since returning just over a month ago, he has returned to MVP form.

In 122 plate appearances this season, Acuna is slashing .396/.500/.713 with five doubles, nine home runs, and 16 RBI. He ranks second among qualified MLB hitters in OPS over the past month. He also ranks seventh among NL outfielders in WAR despite playing nearly 50 games fewer than the rest of the top 10 this season.

Acuna has recorded a hit in nine of his past 10 games, including four consecutive multi-hit games.

On Tuesday, he will face Mets right-hander Frankie Montas for the first time.

Montas will be making his debut with the Mets, but he has struggled in recent years, and he also posted a 12.05 ERA in six rehab starts.

The Mets also sent his younger brother, Luisangel, back to Triple-A before yesterday's game. Big brother likely was not a fan of that, and he took his celebrating around the bases after his third-inning home run on Monday. The added motivation may help Acuna clear this line once again as he has done in eight of his last 10 games while averaging 3.8 hits + runs + runs batted in during that span.
