The New York Yankees took care of business on Tuesday night when they defeated the Baltimore Orioles in the first game of an important three-game set at Yankee Stadium.
All eyes will be on the pinstripes this Wednesday, as Gerrit Cole is making his season debut after beginning the year on the IL (elbow).
It’ll be Cade Povich pitching for the Orioles and he has a tall task at hand against an excellent Yankees lineup — although one without Aaron Judge.

The long-awaited return is here for Gerrit Cole as he will make his season debut.
The Yankees starting pitching held strong with Cole being on the shelf, but Cole could be the missing piece for a title run.
But Cole will be limited to about an 80-pitch count, giving us good reason to fade him in the strikeout market.
Cole showed no signs of slowing down last season, but it’s fair to say that it may take him some time to regain his normal velocity and consistent punchout ability. The Orioles rank about the middle of the pack in strikeouts per game, so it is not too scary taking an under against this lineup. Cole looked pretty decent and his rehab starts, but you could tell that he is still not a full 100% at his peak performance.
I imagine Cole might only make it to the fifth inning with the pitch count, so if he only averages one strikeout per inning, we should be in good shape.
Henderson is having a dream season for the O’s and is well-deserving of being atop many AL MVP ballots.
And in five lifetime at-bats against Cole, he's 1-for-5 with a dinger.
Henderson is hitting .267 with 18 home runs against right-handed pitching thus far this season. Given his success against right-handed pitching and The Short Porch at Yankee Stadium, it’s hard not to like the odds of his total bases prop at +100.
Not only does Henderson already have a home run against Cole in his career, but he will be facing Cole at less than 100% health, which should boost his chances for an early extra-base knock.
I like Henderson today to be a big part of the O's offense.
Juan Soto is having a dream season for the Yankees and if it weren’t for Aaron Judge, he would easily be the front-runner to win the American League MVP alongside Gunnar Henderson.
Judge was hit by a pitch yesterday and had to exit the game early, so I imagine he'll be out for this game.
Without Judge in the lineup, I expect the O's to pitch around Soto, resulting in a few walks, and someone should knock him in eventually.
Both offenses were stagnant on Tuesday, but I don't think that will be the case on Wednesday.
Many people will see that the O's are sending out young phenom left-hander Povich, and see Cole on the mound for the Yankees and will be quick to take the under due to both of these pitchers' repertoires.
But with Cole on a pitch count, that is going to lead to a lot of Yankees arms being deployed out of the bullpen. After their series against Boston, it is safe to say that the negative regression for the Yankee's arms in the pen is finally kicking in.
The O's one of the best offenses in baseball, and the ball should fly on a warm night in the Bronx.
Povich has excellent minor-league numbers, but he has struggled with command.
