Creighton vs Seton Hall Betting Prediction
Creighton Basketball
Creighton has a recent history of great results in the postseason. Despite having never won the Big East Tournament, the Bluejays have been in the finals of the event five times since joining the conference in 2014. From 2021 to 2025, Creighton had three appearances in the finals, one exit in the semifinals and one quarterfinal loss.
However, those Bluejays teams all had something in common: Not only did they play well in the Big East Tournament, but they did so because they were NCAA Tournament-caliber teams.
This season has taken a different course, and Creighton won't be in the NCAA Tournament as an at-large.
Would it be awesome to see the Bluejays win three games in three days to make the NCAA Tournament for the sixth straight season? Absolutely. Is it going to happen? Probably not. But if Creighton wants to kickstart a magical run, it has to start against Seton Hall.
The Bluejays have played the Pirates tough in the first two matchups of the season. The home team in this head-to-head won the game both times, while each game was decided by two points or fewer. This game will be a close one way or another, but the Bluejays are going to need to come out on fire from behind the arc to win.
Creighton takes 48% of its total field goal attempts from the 3-point line (24th in the country), while limiting opponents to 32.4% of their total field goal attempts from the 3-point line (14th-lowest rate allowed in the country).
Seton Hall is a terrible shooting team, though, and has an incredibly low attempt rate as a result, so the Bluejays will have to rely on a middling interior defense (or a great shooting night of their own) to win this game.
Seton Hall Basketball
The Pirates are on the opposite end of the spectrum when it comes to postseason success. Head coach Shaheen Holloway didn't take Seton Hall to the NCAA Tournament in any of his first three seasons at the helm, although he did take 15-seed Saint Peter's to the Elite Eight in 2022.
Seton Hall's last NCAA Tournament appearance was also in 2022, Kevin Willard's last season before leaving to coach Maryland. The Pirates hired Holloway to bring some of that magic in March, but he hasn't delivered yet. In fact, Holloway hasn't even won a Big East Tournament game since being hired.
Seton Hall isn't under any extra pressure this season when compared to prior campaigns, although it would be extra frustrating if the Pirates wasted an 11-1 start to the season on a non-NCAA Tournament team.
The Pirates desperately need wins in the Big East Tournament to have a chance to earn an at-large bid in the Big Dance.
Seton Hall has just one Quad 1 win this season (against NC State at the Maui Invitational back in November), and the only opportunities to pick one up in this tournament will be against St. John's in a potential semifinals matchup or a matchup with Villanova or UConn in the finals.
But before the Pirates can worry about pulling off an upset in the later rounds of the Big East Tournament, they have to take care of business against a Creighton team with proven success in the postseason.
Seton Hall's offense is outside the top 150 on KenPom, but with a top-15 defensive unit in the country, the Pirates know their calling card and will depend on it once again.
Creighton vs Seton Hall Pick, Betting Analysis
Given Seton Hall's stalwart defense and dismal offense, playing the under in a Pirates game is never a horrible idea. However, these two teams combined for 137 points the last time they played.
That point total doesn't seem like much, but it actually would hit the over, according to where most sportsbooks have set the total in this game.
The first matchup was a rock fight with only 110 combined points, but I think there's a bigger factor at play here.
In conference tournament settings, teams can get hyped up and play a little out of control, resulting in higher paces, and since these teams play so slowly to begin with, it wouldn't be too hard for this game to exceed the projected possession count by a decent margin.
I do think the extra factor here is pure motivation. Creighton knows its season is on the line, but Seton Hall knows the exact same is true for its side.
The Pirates know this specific game is a must-win, and they're the better team and will show that in a hard-fought, physical win.
My Pick: Seton Hall -3 (Play to -3.5)
