Omaha vs Murray State College Basketball Betting Preview

Omaha Basketball

Omaha enters the year with high expectations after winning the Summit League last season before dancing in March.

The Mavericks enjoyed a 22-13 season that ended with a Round of 64 loss against St. John’s.

Omaha lost its top two scorers in the transfer portal, Marquel Sutton (LSU) and JJ White (Baylor)

The Mavericks will lean on senior guard Tony Osburn. He averaged 13.5 points last season and is expected to take over as the team's top scorer this season.

In addition to Osuburn, the Mavericks return starters Kamryn Thomas and Isaac Ondekane.

The Mavericks were voted to finish second in the Summit League preseason polls.

The Racers come into the season attempting to bounce back from a 16-17 campaign a season ago.

Several changes were made to this program during the offseason. Most notably, the hiring of Ryan Miller, the first-year head coach at Murray State. Miller was the top assistant under Greg McDermott at Creighton.

Murray State won't return a single player from its roster from last season. Miller was active in the transfer portal, though, adding two former Creighton players, Mason Miller and Fred King.

Additionally, the Racers landed JJ Traynor from Louisville and KJ Tenner from West Virginia.

Murray State is predicted to finish fourth in the Missouri Valley Conference.

Omaha vs. Murray State Betting Analysis

I expect a tight back-and-forth contest that will favor the underdog.

Omaha is a veteran, experienced team that's played many games together.

Murray State is a new-look team with limited experience playing together as a group.

The Mavericks will carry their success from last season into their opening game on Monday.

My Pick: Omaha +4.5
