Why Arizona Can Cover

The Wildcats have gotten back on track in conference play, winning two straight against Kansas and Colorado. They've done so by outscoring their opposition, 76-37, thanks to some excellent play on the defensive end.

If Arizona is going to pull off the upset here, we should see it make this game more of a grind than expected. Both teams play fast, but the Wildcats defense has the opportunity to set the tone by shutting down the Bearcats offense.

While that's no easy task, the Wildcats rank 33rd in yards per rush allowed, seventh in yards per pass allowed and fourth in opponent completion percentage.

On the other side of the ball, it's up to quarterback Noah Fifita to remain efficient. He faces a vulnerable Cincinnati secondary that's 106th in opponent completion percentage and 69th in yards per pass allowed.

We could see some support from the backfield as well, running backs Ismail Mahdi and Quincy Craig have combined to average 6.9 yards per carry.

Why Cincinnati Can Cover

The Bearcats come into this matchup off their worst loss of the season to Utah. They allowed a season-high 45 points and also put up a season-low 14 points.

That final score is extremely deceiving, as they had little trouble moving the ball against the Utes; they were hampered by turnovers and inefficiency in the red zone.

While we shouldn't expect those issues to persist, it's hard to ignore just how tough a matchup they have in the Arizona defense.

We went over how stout the Wildcats are and have been. So, yes, the Bearcats have been an electric offense, but they have yet to face a defense of this caliber. Their struggles could slow this game down a lot.

How To Make Arizona vs Cincinnati Picks

The market hasn't taken a big stance on this total. We've seen a few moves down to 55.5, but they quickly moved back up. However, those small fluctuations are an indication that a stronger move is coming.

Arizona's defense should contain the Bearcats offense, which has yet to be truly tested. Then, on the other side of the ball, the Wildcats have the opportunity to be more methodical by finding success on the ground.

This combination will lead to the under cashing.

Pick: Under 56.5 (Play to 54.5)
