Georgia Tech vs NC State NCAAF Week 10 Pick
The transcript of this conversation comes from the BBOC Week 10 Betting Preview.
Stuckey: Justin Joly is critical for NC State, and I don’t think he’s going to play. The NC State defense is a mess. But Georgia Tech has serious injuries in the secondary, and you probably get the Wolfpack’s best effort on Saturday.
Collin Wilson: I can’t play NC State at this number, but I do see some advantages for the Wolfpack.
The Wolfpack’s rush defense has serious issues against zone-read concepts, but Georgia Tech doesn't use that concept. The Yellow Jackets use mostly power and counter concepts, and NC State’s defense has posted a high 64% Success Rate against those play types. Additionally, Georgia Tech center Harrison Moore is potentially injured, which might be significant.
So, this is a good matchup for NC State’s defense.
On the other side of the ball, NC State’s offense is good at two things: Explosives and Finishing Drives. Georgia Tech ranks 122nd nationally in broken tackles allowed, which could lead to a cover for the Wolfpack.
But I want the number to be higher.
Stuckey: CJ Bailey has been so up and down this season. NC State gets no pressure on defense, which is very concerning.
Wilson: But we’re definitely not buying Georgia Tech.
Stuckey: Yeah. I would love NC State at +7, but it’s hard to bet the ‘Pack at +5.5, especially without Joly.
Pick: NC State +7 or Better (Lean)
