UAB Football vs Army Football Preview
UAB Blazers Betting Preview: Breaking Losing Streak To Be Tall Task
UAB shows up for this contest losers of four straight games, including last week at home against Tulane. The Blazers surrendered 497 yards and 71 points against the Green Wave in a completely uninspiring defensive effort.
UAB allowed 7.3 yards per play while giving up numerous explosive plays. UAB also allowed a 100-yard kickoff return touchdown and quarterback Jalen Kitna threw an interception that was returned for a touchdown. UAB punched in a couple of touchdowns late but the damage was already done.
Rumblings out of Birmingham show that this UAB team is an absolute mess right now. The fans are rightfully disgusted with the team's performance and head coach Trent Dilfer, who is likely to be fired at season’s end, if not sooner.
The defensive effort has not been exhibited in any games against FBS competition, and starting quarterback Jacob Zeno is likely out again against the Black Knights. UAB is certainly up against it here.
Army Black Knights Betting Preview: Keep The Wins Rolling
Army just keeps on rolling after a 49-7 blowout win against Tulsa last week.
One of the major success stories in FBS this season, the Black Knights are undefeated and in the driver’s seat to control their own destiny in the AAC this year. With a 4-0 league record in games, they have won handily. Army seems pretty clear-cut to be a participant in the conference championship game.
Army is the FBS leader in rushing offense and has received exceptional quarterback play from Bryson Daily. The offensive scheme changes, with Army reverting back to the flexbone triple option attack, have seen Daily make excellent decisions with the football. He has also found another gear this season as a runner, with 120 rushing yards per game and 10 rushing touchdowns.
We have also seen more speed and explosiveness from the Army slot backs. The pass game has also been much more explosive and successful this season, further contributing to the overall success of the Army's offensive output.
Defensively Army has been rock solid all season. Army is surrendering just 9.8 points and just 260 total yards per game. The Black Knight defense has been stout against the run holding opponents to 81 yards per game and 3.2 yards per carry. Army has also been good in the redzone allowing just 5 touchdowns all season when teams get inside the 20 yard line.

UAB vs Army Pick & Prediction
I played over 54.5.
Army keeps on rolling offensively.
The Knights don't beat themselves with penalties. They lead the nation in Standard Downs Success Rate while ranking in the top 10 in EPA per Play and Havoc allowed.
Conversely, the Blazers rank 77th nationally in Standard Downs EPA per Play allowed, 109th nationally in EPA per Rush allowed and 82nd nationally in Havoc rate.
Army excels in the red zone, while the UAB defense flails with its backs against the wall.
Army should score at will on Saturday.
It would seem logical to lay it with Army, but the number is far too inflated.
For as bad as the UAB defense has been this year, the offense has put up yards and points against their opponents. UAB has averaged 22 points per game over the last three games, and the Blazers have not quit on offense.
UAB has slight advantages in some advanced metrics when they have football, like ranking 33rd nationally in Rush Success Rate and 53rd in Pass Success Rate — Army's defense ranks sub-100th in both categories.
My numbers project the over/under at 59.5.
Army is much more explosive on offense, and its speed at the skill positions allows it to score much more quickly than in years past. Army games are 4-1 to the over this year, and even in a blowout, UAB will still get meaningful snaps and show effort to score late. The Black Knights win comfortably in a high-scoring affair.
Pick: Over 55.5 (-110, bet365)
