This article contains predictions for an old game.

The Chicago Bears (4-2) and Washington Commanders (5-2) will kick off the late Sunday afternoon slate of NFL Week 8. Kickoff is set for 4:25 p.m. ET from Northwest Stadium in Landover, Md. The game will be broadcast on CBS and can be streamed on platforms like Paramount+ or YouTube TV.

The Commanders are consensus 1.5-point favorites over the Bears (Commanders -1.5) with the game total set at 46. Washington is a -120 favorite on the moneyline to win outright, while Chicago is +102 to pull off the upset. Jayden Daniels is set to play today, as was officially reported at 2:52 p.m. ET, shortly before kickoff.

The Bears are coming off their bye week after winning 3 straight games. Caleb Williams is off to a great start in the NFL with 9 touchdowns and 5 interceptions in his first 6 NFL games. The Commanders won 40-7 last week over the Panthers. Jayden Daniels left the game with a rib injury, so we'll see how he plays today.

Odds for this game had moved drastically on Saturday night when reports came out that Daniels looked likely to play. It was Bears -3 on Friday but Commanders -1 on Sunday morning and now Commanders -1.5.

Let's get into my Bears vs. Commanders predictions and my NFL picks for Week 8.

My Commanders vs. Bears best bet is on Chicago. For all of your NFL bets, be sure to find the best lines by using our live NFL odds page.

Against the Spread Pick

I'm betting the Bears and laying the points. Even with Jayden Daniels, I don't think the Commanders will beat a Bears team that has improved every week with Caleb Williams under center.

Bears +1.5 (Bet to +1)

Over/Under Prediction

I'm not betting on the total for this game, which has risen two points at some books with the news that Daniels will play.

Moneyline

If you wanted to bet the Bears moneyline and just ensure that all they need to do is win, I wouldn't blame you.

My pick: Bears +1.5 (Bet to +1)

How to Bet Bears vs. Commanders Picks and Odds

I’m higher on Chicago than the betting market is. The first two weeks of the season were a disaster. Caleb Williams was averaging about four yards per attempt, and the Bears couldn’t find the end zone. Every week since, though, it seems like they’re getting better.

Still, though, the Bears haven’t beaten anyone of note so far. The easy schedule to start the season has definitely given Chicago time to fix their early season issues. Williams is up to 7.9 yards per attempt over his last four games with nine touchdowns and three interceptions, and he’s starting to run more.

The final step, for me, was getting Rome Odunze more involved in the offense. If Keenan Allen can stay healthy, this trio of receivers can really be a problem for the NFL. Odunze has been the Bears’ most explosive receiver, and he’s getting the most separation of any of those three defenders.

Defensively, I cannot understate how big a difference there is between Daniels and Mariota. Since 2018, 87 quarterbacks have at least 250 dropbacks. Daniels ranked first in EPA per dropback. That doesn’t mean he’s the best quarterback ever, but it puts into perspective just how well he’s playing.

I also don’t respect offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury too much and don’t trust him without Daniels. Part of why I don’t value the offensive playmakers on the Washington side. Terry McLaurin is the only proven receiver, and I also don’t think guys like Zach Ertz are the same without Daniels.

The Washington defense is also still terrible, ranked 23rd in DVOA. This secondary could really struggle against Williams as the Bears offense continues to improve.

Pick: Bears +1

  • Bears vs. Commanders point spread: Commanders -1.5
  • Bears vs. Commanders total: Over/under 46 points
  • Bears vs. Commanders money lines: Commanders -120, Bears +102
