The Dallas Cowboys (12-5 in 2023) begin the 2024 NFL regular season against the Cleveland Browns (11-6 last season), with kickoff set for 4:25 p.m. ET at Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland. The game is airing on FOX and all major streaming platforms, such as YouTube TV.

The Browns are favored by 2.5 points over the Cowboys in the latest NFL odds for Week 1, with the game total set at 41.5. Cleveland is a -130 favorite on the moneyline, with the Cowboys +110 to win outright.

The Cowboys are coming off of an NFC East-winning campaign, although they once again came up short in the playoffs. Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb will look to finally get Dallas over the hump this year. The Browns, meanwhile, need Deshaun Watson to get his career back on track this season after a couple of underwhelming seasons to start his time with the Browns.

It's time for my Cowboys vs. Browns predictions and my NFL predictions and picks for this Sunday afternoon game in Week 1.

Cowboys vs. Browns Picks

SPREAD

I'm betting the Cowboys against the spread as road underdogs.

MONEYLINE

While I'm betting Dallas to cover, I'm not betting the Cowboys on the moneyline, and I'm definitely not betting the Browns.

OVER/UNDER

I have no pick on the Cowboys-Browns over/under.

My Browns vs. Cowboys Pick: Cowboys +2.5

Cowboys at Browns Preview, Analysis

I get all of the hate on the Cowboys, but we need to look on the field to break this game down.

Watson has played very little football over the past three seasons, and he hasn't looked particularly good when he has. When you watch footage of him, he doesn't look like the player who broke into the league and was an instant success. He's not hitting receivers in the hands and it doesn't look like he has much of a rhythm.

The Browns defense, however, is incredible and carried them to the playoffs last season with Joe Flacco at quarterback. Can that happen again if Watson isn't holding up his end of the bargain? I'm skeptical.

On the other side, I think this is a great spot for Prescott. People seem to only be remembering the playoff loss to the Packers and not the great season he had that led the Cowboys to the NFC East championship.

In the regular season, though, Prescott has been very good to us. Especially at home, the Cowboys usually cover against bad teams. It's on the road where the issues are more prevalent.

I've been on the Cowboys here from the start. When Lamb's holdout continued into training camp, I waited to get a better number and it went up to +2.5. I was hoping this number would get to Cowboys +3, but it doesn't look like it's going to get there. I'm still on the Dallas side, though.

The hate on the Cowboys has gone too far. Given the questions surrounding the Browns' quarterback and offensive-line situations and Prescott's reliability in the regular season, this should be a good spot for a Dallas cover.

I think the line moving from +1.5 to +2.5 is more about off-the-field narratives than on-the-field realities. Give me Dallas.
