New England Patriots vs Cincinnati Bengals NFL Preview
Let's get a little crazy and go with the Bengals moneyline against New England.
Ja’Marr Chase is suspended after spitting on Jalen Ramsey. Considering he's the NFL leader in receptions, that's obviously a big loss for the Bengals.
I know DE Trey Hendrickson is also out, and that the Bengals defense stinks, as does their offensive line, but we may be due for a vintage Joe Flacco game.
According to Evan Abrams, Flacco has faced Mike Vrabel as a head coach twice in his career as a starter (with the Broncos and Ravens), and his teams are 2-0 SU/ATS in those game, winning by a combined score of 37-0.
Of course, the wild card for this game is that Joe Burrow could make his return.
He's practiced all week and reports have been positive, but there's been no official word at the time of writing.
The Patriots have had the easiest schedule in the league so far this season.
Maybe they are a little fat and happy, likely due for a weird loss, just like every other NFL team would be sitting at 9-2 with a two-game lead in the division.
Even the best of the best tend to have a couple of games each year where they simply don't show up, and this game would fit the bill for New England, playing at Cincinnati against a Bengals team that has been awful lately, while New England is on cruise control and everything is great.
Patriots vs Bengals Betting Predictions, Analysis
The Patriots have won eight straight games.
Teams on a straight up (SU) winning streak of 8+ games are 39-61-2 ATS (39%) since 2010, including 11-20-1 against the spread (ATS) since 2020.
When a team is on the road on an 8+ game win streak, they are 14-34 ATS since 2010.
Notably, the Patriots lost DE Milton Williams — that's a significant absence.
The Bengals found some life in the run game as of late, and not having Chase obviously hurts because you want to attack the Patriots with your star wide receiver, but look out for Mitchell Tinsley.
All that guy does is make circus catches.
So, let's take a shot with the Bengals moneyline in this spot. Just a gut feel here.
Note: I like the Bengals moneyline even if Joe Burrow doesn't come back for this game.
