How to Bet on Soccer
The most popular soccer betting market is the moneyline, which is simply a bet on which team will win the game. Sportsbooks will often offer two- or three-way moneylines, and the difference between those is whether you want to account for the possibility of a draw.
In two-way moneylines, you don't have to worry about it depending on the sportsbook. If neither team wins the game, moneyline bets on a side will get refunded. With three-way moneylines, bettors can wager on either team or a draw occurring. Since all outcomes are accounted for in three-way MLs, you would lose your bet if anything happens but what you wagered on.
All U.S. sportsbooks will list soccer markets with American odds, which you can think about with $100 bet amounts. Say Liverpool was -180 against Manchester City in the EPL: A bet on Liverpool would net $100 for every $180 wagered. If Man City was +150 in that instance, if it won then bettors on that side would profit $150 for every $100 bet.
Game totals are also quite popular, and with these it doesn't matter which team wins the game or if there's a draw. All that matters is the total number of goals in the match.
