A salute to our troops! Army upset a lifeless Kansas State, scored 10 points in the final three minutes to take UNT to overtime, and then beat the crap out of UAB and Charlotte. What that’s done is make them appear closer to last year’s team than they really are. Here’s the underlying stats that prove they’re a below average American team, all they do is run but they’re 99th in success rate, 91st in explosiveness, they’re 40th in havoc avoidance, a stat should be closer to top 10 given their offense style, and they’re 117th in red zone scoring. They’re not explosive, they’re not finishing in the end zone when they march down the field and they’re not equipped to throw it at all. Tulane got the extra two days by playing on Thursday last week to prepare for this game. They have revenge on their mind after getting embarrassed in the American title game up at West Point. Now they’re hosting, Retzlaff is dealing. He was the reason they pulled it out against East Carolina, and I trust him to protect the football which is paramount against a keep-away team like Army. This is a below average Army secondary, not total dogshit, but they’re gettable. If Tulane keeps the turnover margin anywhere north of -1, they cover this number.

Tulane Green Wave 2025 Season Preview

The Tulane Green Wave enter the 2025 season with high expectations, aiming to build upon their recent successes. Under the leadership of second-year head coach Jon Sumrall, the Green Wave are poised to compete at a high level in the American Athletic Conference (AAC). Despite the departure of key players, including quarterback Darian Mensah, Tulane has made strategic additions to strengthen its roster.

Offensive Outlook

The offense will be led by either BYU transfer quarterback Jake Retzlaff or senior Brendan Sullivan — both bring experience and leadership to the position. The running back corps, featuring Maurice Turner and Javin Gordon, is expected to provide a balanced attack. The receiving group, including players like Omari Hayes and Jack Tchienchou, aims to stretch the field and create big-play opportunities. The offensive line, anchored by veterans, will be crucial in providing protection and establishing the run game.

Defensive Outlook

Defensively, Tulane returns several key contributors, including linebacker Dickson Agu and defensive back Zuberi Mobley. The defensive line, led by Mo Westmoreland, is expected to apply pressure on opposing quarterbacks. The secondary, featuring players like Jack Tchienchou, aims to improve upon last season's performance and create turnovers.

Schedule Overview

Tulane's 2025 schedule presents a challenging mix of non-conference and AAC matchups. The season opener against Northwestern on August 30 sets the tone for the year. Subsequent games against South Alabama and Duke will test the Green Wave's mettle early in the season. AAC play begins with a critical home game against Army on October 18, known as the "Battle for the Belt." Other key conference games include matchups against UTSA, Memphis, and Florida Atlantic.

Tulane Point Spreads

Point spreads are a popular bet one can make on either team in a college football game and are based on the margin of victory for the winning team.

A Tulane spread might look like this:

  • Tulane +3.5 (-110)
  • UTSA -3.5 (-110)

A 31-28 loss for Tulane is still a win for spread bettors since the three-point margin of defeat is less than the 3.5-point spread. Spread tickets on the Green Wave would cash with any loss of three or fewer points, or an outright win.

Tulane Over/Unders

Over/unders, or totals, are bets on the number of points scored in the game.

Tulane Moneylines

While spread bets depend on the amount of the victory, moneyline bets are a bit simpler, as all that matters is which team wins. Let's look at an example:

  • Tulane -160
  • SMU +180

The minus (-) and plus (+) signs distinguish the favorite from the underdog, making Tulane the favorite in this scenario. Odds can be understood more clearly if you think in terms of $100 increments. A wager on the Green Wave odds would mean every $160 bet nets $100. And it's the opposite for underdogs: Here, the SMU moneyline was set at +180, meaning a $100 wager would profit $180.

Moneylines are also commonly used when making parlays, which are multiple bets tied into one. Let’s say you bet on Tulane's moneyline and the Over, both bets would need to win for that parlay to be successful. The risk may be greater, but so is the reward with increased odds. Use our Odds Calculator to calculate any bet amount or conversion.

Tulane Props

Player props are bets on how much of a specific statistic a player will accumulate.

Many skill position players (and some defenders) will have a variety of props available to bet each game.

Tulane Futures

Futures are somewhat similar to prop bets in the way both are monitored over the course of a season. However, most future bets are focused on end of season success. Examples of futures are:

  • Tulane odds to win the AAC
  • Tulane odds to reach the College Football Playoff
  • Tulane odds to win the College Football Playoff

If you think the Green Wave can reach the 12-team College Football Playoff this season, this is the bet to make. These types of bets are called futures, and they're just wagers on things that settle at the end of the year. For a full list of college football futures, click or tap here.
