BetMGM reported a progressive jackpot payout of $6.4 million in New Jersey on Monday, calling it the largest legal internet casino gaming payout in U.S. history.

According to BetMGM, the jackpot reached an operator-record $4 million in February and continued to grow as bettors attempted to land "The Big One," a progressive jackpot pool derived exclusively from playing in-house games produced by Entain. The jackpot paid out on a $200 bet made while playing Fruit Blaster.

“BetMGM and one lucky player made iGaming history. It’s been a summer filled with anticipation watching the progressive jackpot grow quickly to record levels," BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt said in a statement. "This win is the latest proof that BetMGM Casino is the premier destination for progressive jackpots and unforgettable experiences.”

Players had the chance to win the progressive jackpot by playing online in New Jersey via BetMGM, Borgata, Wheel of Fortune Casino and Party Casino. Fruit Blaster is a five-reel slot with “The Big One” jackpot slot game, and wins are based on a combination of the various symbols displayed on the winning pay lines.

A Payout and One Other Perk

Since the payout exceeded $500,000, the jackpot winner also can travel to an MGM Resorts International property in Las Vegas or the nearest location to the winner's home. The payout led to a reset of "The Big One" in New Jersey, with the progressive jackpot now worth $1.2 million as of Tuesday.

“BetMGM congratulates the winner on this historic jackpot," said Angus Nisbet, BetMGM's vice president of gaming. "It’s these ‘you never know when’ moments that make progressive jackpots especially thrilling. In addition to the jackpot, we hope the player enjoys their trip to an MGM Resort in the near future.”
