While Garrett Crochet may be winless in his last 11 starts, he has been very consistent; in that span, he has allowed more than three earned runs only once. That just means he is keeping games close—and that bodes well against a Giants team which really has struggled offensively this series. Although the Sox do not feature a lot of firepower, they have shown an ability to put the ball in play and come into this game with a .296 average against right-handed pitchers, such as Logan Webb.
On the other side, Logan Webb has been dominant, especially in his last few starts, but the White Sox's ability to get on base against righties could test him, particularly if such success leads to a tinge of overconfidence. On the Giants' side, while winning several games in a row, the Giants offense has remained poor For example, they have a .228 team batting average against left-handers like Crochet. Their inability to turn baserunners into runs afforded ample space for Crochet to more than navigate through their order effectively last game (2-for-11 RISP).
Moreover, with shorter outings from Crochet, this White Sox bullpen may not be elite but could get the Giants by surprise, as Giants have been struggling against the relief pitchers with a .206 average. The White Sox have been huge underachievers this season. Still, an upset would be well within the realm of possibility if Crochet can match that with four solid innings and the bullpen keeps them close. With Webb going 0-2 against the White Sox for his career with a 5.73 ERA, coupled with Chicago's actual ability to get guys on base and maybe some potential regression from Webb, it is not hard to picture the White Sox taking this game.

Garrett Crochet has been quite dominant when on the mound. It would be hard to find somebody who sports a 34% strikeout rate and a WHIP of only 1.07 across all his starts, especially while holding up well in terms of ground ball percentage at 45%. He is outstanding in containing damage, allowing more than two earned runs in just two of his 13 starts. Unlike the White Sox bullpen as a whole, what Crochet has done will help things from being so poor early in games.
The offset to that is Logan Webb, who remains an excellent piece but just an absolute rock for the Giants. Webb has allowed one run or fewer in four straight home starts, posting a 3.17 ERA and 1.22 WHIP in 26 overall starts. That 56% groundball percentage is vital, not to mention keeping the ball in the yard against a White Sox lineup that ranks last in WRC+ across all of baseball. The Giants bullpen has also been much stronger recently, recording a 2.65 ERA over its last 10 games, which furthers the under play rather nicely.
These teams' offenses have just been bad. The Giants are slugging a paltry .218 in their last 10 games. Sure, the White Sox have shown life at times offensively, but they have just been very spotty. Not much will lead one to think that will change against Webb. Although this is probably the most satisfying way to leave out the bullpen for the White Sox, with these recent starting pitchers and an improved Giants bullpen, the under 7 is still looking pretty good.
